One man chews pot, two arrested

Couple trades charges
A man and woman were
arrested on drug charges
after a traffic stop on High
way 129 bypass in Jeffer
son.
The two arrested were
Dexter Corderro, 29, 1918
Steiner Ave., Augusta, pos
session of marijuana with
intent to distribute and tam
pering with evidence; and
Tylishia Brown, possession
of a schedule 4 controlled
substance with intent to
distribute, possession of a
schedule 2 controlled sub
stance with intent to distrib
ute and pills being out of the
original container.
Police confiscated $6,800
Barnett had in his wallet. He
first told an officer $2,500
of it belonged to Brown and
that he was going shopping.
He said he was not sure
where he was going shop
ping or what he was shop
ping for. He told another
officer the money was his
mother’s rent money.
An officer said Bar
nett “stuff a handful of an
unknown substance in his
mouth and begin chewing.”
It was marijuana.
Marijuana also was found
in a plastic bag in the door
handle of the rear passenger
door and loose marijuana in
the back seat.
Brown admitted she had
several items in her under
wear.
They included another
bag with marijuana and a
prescription bottle with a
variety of several tablets.
Some of the tablets were
identified as 22 Alprazol
am, five Cyclobenzapine, 14
Oxycodone Hydrochloride
and four Alprazolam. Other
tablets were broken and
couldn’t be identified.
The driver was issue a
citation for speeding and
was released.
ONE ARRESTED
FOR DUI, DEMANDS
TO TALK TO STATE
ATTORNEY
A man was stopped on
Old Pendergrass Road after
a report of reckless driving.
Timothy Grover Long, 33,
590 Trotters Ridge Road,
Jefferson, was charged with
three counts of obstruction,
DUI-alcohol, violation of
open container law and
operating a vehicle with sus
pended registration.
An officer said he smelled
an alcoholic beverage on
him and said Long “was not
making sense.”
Long said he wanted to
talk to the state attorney “on
the side of the road” before
he would cooperate with an
officer.
He said the state attorney
“had him under surveillance
for federal communication
and he was being held hos
tage by the state attorney.”
He refused to get out of
his car for sobriety tests
unless he “he spoke with the
state attorney.”
Two other officers took
him out of the car and hand
cuffed him on the ground.
Long continued to refused
to cooperate “while still
making irrational state
ments.”
Jail personnel said Long
refused to sign any docu
ments or speak to anyone
for two days the last time he
was arrested.
TWO ARRESTED
AFTER FAMILY
ARGUMENT
Two family members
were arrested on warrants
from Douglas County after
a dispute.
Kayla Jamie Brown, 33,
and Milton Andrew Boke-
meyer, 33, both 27 Blue
Bird Lane, Jefferson, were
held for Douglas County.
The owner of the house
said she had an ongoing dis
pute the two.
JUVENILE GIRL
CHARGED WITH
AGGRAVATED
ASSAULT
A 14-year-old girl was
arrested after a fight with
her mother.
The girl was charged with
aggravated assault and bat
tery.
The mother said she took
medication because she was
sick and went to bed.
She said her daughter was
angry that she would not get
up and began pulling the
covers off and screaming at
her. She said her daughter
grabbed her by the neck,
choking her and hit her in
the chest.
ONE CHARGED,
THREE TEST
POSITIVE FOR
ALCOHOL
One 19-year-old man
was charged and two com
panions tested positive for
alcohol consumption when
an officer stopped their car
after a complaint about
juveniles trespassing at the
Jefferson Walk pool.
Arrested was Caleb Lit
tle, 19. 6261 Wilburn Reed
Road, Gainesville. He was
charged with underage pos
session of alcohol and tag
light required.

Other incidents reported
to the JPD recently include:
•the night manager at On
the Run reported she was
putting money into the safe
and it would not accept a
particular $20 bill. A deputy
said the “pen mark turned
brown” when the bill was
tested for legitimacy.
•a woman who is the
grandmother of two chil
dren said she has custody
of them. The father said he
let his ex-wife keep the chil
dren for the weekend and
she did not bring them back
Monday as she was sup
posed to do.
•a man was cited for pos
session of less than an ounce
of marijuana, speeding and
possession of a drag-related
object after a traffic stop.
The man was stopped on
Highway 129 bypass for
speeding.
•a woman said a man has
been harassing her by fol
lowing her and tried to rob
her in Maysville, She said
the man who harassed her
had hacked into her phone
and deleted her text messag
es and photos. She is scared
for her life, she said.
•a man who is an employ
ee of “NSpire Group” said
he went to collect donations
from the box at the BP sta
tion on Sycamore Street
and the box was gone. He
said an employee of the

A woman said she had an argument with her boyfriend
and he hit her.
She said when she tried to leave, he “picked her up by
her back and slammed her to the ground.” He got on top of
her and hit her in the face and several other places.
The man had left, but he came back while deputies were
there. He said she “started acting crazy and came at him
with a knife.”
The woman said she had a fork, not a knife, and she
“wasn’t trying to use it on him.”
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents in the Maysville area reported to the
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office recently include:
•a man and woman gave conflicting stories about a
dispute they had. The woman said she was taken to her
grandmother’s house by another man and was “assaulted”
by the other man. He said he was assaulted by the woman.
He said she came into his bedroom with a piece of wood
and hit him with it.
•a man said he needed medical help because a refriger
ator exploded in his face “a couple of days ago.” His eyes
were swollen shut. He was uncooperative when a deputy
asked about details, saying, “Y’all just leave if you’re
gonna just question me.”
•a woman complained her son’s two dogs were at her
house and asked a deputy to shoot them. The deputy
declined.
•a man on Marlow Road said he had seen a man with a
bear near their property. He said the man was on adjacent
property that includes a number of chicken houses.
•a woman said she was getting messages on Facebook
Messenger from a man who had been arrested on a domes
tic violence charge and who had a “no contact” bond with
her when he was released from jail. He said in the message
he “was going to bring out all of the skeletons in (her)
closet and counter sue her for the charges” against him.
•a man on Old Miller Road said he was cutting his
neighbor’s grass when he heard several gunshots. He said
the shots sounded like they came from the pasture behind
his neighbor’s house. It had been a problem in the past. He
gave deputies a spent .223 caliber projectile that he said he
pulled out of a tree near his house.
•a man on Harmony Church Road called for help with
his wife twice. The woman was in a closet, drank, the first
call about 6:16 p.m. EMS personnel moved her out of the
closet, but she was uncooperative and refused to be treated.
Her husband said he was disabled and needed help. The
husband said he was worried about his wife getting access
to guns in the house on the second call about 7:30 p.m. A
pistol and revolver were unloaded and put back in their
cases. The woman was still uncooperative and “kept acting
irate when any question was asked to her.”
•a man on Hillside Way said someone removed his front
window, reached inside and took three prescription bottles
from his headboard.
