Church News
There is hope in Him
I met Gabby about a year ago when
she was coming off drugs. She had just
enrolled in New Beginnings. She met me
at the altar during church that
evening.
The tears were rolling down
her cheeks as she began to tell
me she wanted to leave so she
could see her daughter. Now I’ve
been around New Beginnings
long enough to know she was
fooling herself.
Addiction is powerful and she
might have left to see her daugh
ter. but she would be looking for
her next high in a matter of days
The good news is she didn’t
leave, and her daughter was able to come
and live with her.
One year later, she is raising her child in
a godly manner, she has a good job, and
best of all she has a precious smile that
illuminates her face every time I see her.
That is the joy of the Lord.
Gabby is well aware of what
her life could have been, and
she’s also aware of God’s mercy
and grace.
Over many years I have
watched women, young and
old, enroll in the program and
sometimes they had little more
than the clothes on their backs.
They had no joy. no hope, and
most of the time they were flat
broke physically, mentally, spir
itually. and emotionally.
During our “Weekend Walk
with Jesus,” graduates and clients had the
opportunity to join together and celebrate
our Lord and Savior. These are the women
who have realized when the Son sets a
person free, she is free indeed.
Our reunion of sorts didn’t end with a
one-year recovering addict. I saw women
who had been clean and sober for two,
three, four, even five years.
I’ve had the opportunity to watch God
transform their lives first hand, and now
they are serving and encouraging women
who now stand where they once stood.
Everywhere I looked, I saw trophies of
God’s amazing grace.
At one time. Jennifer ran the streets
and lived a life of addiction. That was
before God made all things new. Today,
she drives up and down the roads in her
new car ministering in churches, nursing
homes, and jails about her new life in
Christ.
Then there’s Erin who comes back
every year. She lives in South Carolina so
she can be close to her children.
The love she has for the hurting women
is a gift of God. Erin knows what it is like
to struggle from day to day. She knows
what it is like to finally surrender every
single thing to the Lord, and she knows
what it is to live free of addiction.
The list goes on and on: Susan, Jessica,
Michelle, Mindy, Maria Each lady
has her own story, but there is one compo
nent that is the same.
Jesus Christ plucked them out of the pit
and put them on a firm foundation.
Life seemed hopeless for these ladies
until they met their Savior, and their lives
were changed forevermore.
May we be encouraged by the work of
the Lord. It is my prayer that each of us will
always remember there is hope in HIM.

at New Beginnings Ministry. She can be
