He will return for us
I remember watch
ing my money grow in
my saving account as a
child. I loved it! It was
just amazing that the bank
would give me money to
use my money.
Today, I still
love to see my
money grow.
It’s not a lot,
but God can
do a lot with a
little.
Even more
exciting, God
has shown me
another div
idend where
the returns are
out of this world.
In Luke 19:11-27,
Jesus told a parable about
a master who entrusted
10 servants with a mina,
which is roughly four
months wages.
The servants had no
idea when the master
would return but they
were encouraged to “put
the money to work until I
return.”
The master’s subjects
hated him and didn't want
him to be king although
he was made king and
returned home. That’s
when he sent for his ser
vants. He wanted to see
what money they had
gained.
The first servant came
and reported he had gained
10 additional mina. The
king was very happy.
“Well done, my good
servant. Because you have
been trustworthy in the
very little, take authority
of 10 cities,” according to
verse 17.
The second servant
came before the king and
announced he’d earned
five more. His master
said, “You take charge of
five cities.”
While the third one
explained that he had kept
the mina tucked away in a
cloth and didn't use what
he’d been given. He didn't
put the money to work to
produce a harvest.
The master asked why
he had not at least depos
ited the money so he could
have collected interest
upon his return. The mas
ter asked for his mina and
gave it to the one who
has produced the greatest
yield.
As Christians, we have
been given a mina from
the Lord, but it is worth
so much more than what
we’ve read about in this
parable.
Our mina is the gospel
of Jesus Christ. What are
we doing with it? Are we
investing it? Will we have
great yields when
our Savior comes
back for us?
I have chal
lenged myself
and I’ll challenge
everyone.
May we live
our lives like
today will be the
last day we will
have an opportu
nity to invest in
the Kingdom of
God.
We are still on this
earth, so we still have a
purpose. Trust me. Ask
God to open up windows
of opportunities, and he
will do it on a daily basis!
People are hurting. We
can comfort them. We can
help them, but our greatest
asset is to tell them about
the living water.
Yes, tell them about
Jesus Christ. We know
that a drink of the liv
ing water will quench our
thirsts forever.
We cannot tell them they
will never have another
problem, but we can tell
them about the ONE who
will go with them through
every issue of life.
We can tell them about
the one who will comfort
them in times of weak
ness.
We can testify of the
one who never sleeps or
slumbers; he is the one
who will never leave them
or forsake them.
He is the one who will
walk with us even in the
valley of the shadow of
death.
My prayer for each of
us is, “Lord let me share
the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Lord open hearts to hear
and respond to the life
changing gospel.”
I want to be like one of
the 10. It’s not about pride.
It’s about service and
glorifying God with my
life. I want God to find
each of us faithful when
he comes for us.
We don’t know the day
or the hour, but we know
he keeps his promises. He
will return for us.

ville is pastor at New
Beginnings Ministry. She
