Sheriff's office
has U reports of
fraud in Jefferson
Eleven reports about bank fraud were reported to
the sheriffs office in Jefferson. Nine of them were
between Oct. 5-9.
Seven of the reports were for use of debit cards to
make charges at retail stores.
The reports were:
•a purchase for $497 at a Publix Oct. 5.
•six withdrawals for a total of $1,495 at Acworth.
Douglas and Dallas Oct. 5-6.
•a total of $1,431 taken in Cobb County from a Jef
ferson bank account Oct. 6.
•several purchases at Food Depots in Stone Moun
tain, Rex, Stockbridge and Lithonia for a total of
$2,100 Oct. 6-7.
•two purchases at Publix stores in Roswell and
Sandy Springs, both for $496.
•a purchase of $283 at a Food Depot in Dallas Oct. 8.
•purchases at a Walmart and Kroger in Atlanta on a
Rapid Pay card through an employer Oct. 9.
The other reports were:
•a man who said eight charges from the Atlanta area
were showing on his online statement Oct. 6. He said
he checked because his debit card was declined when
he tried to pay for food at a BBQ restaurant and it was
refused.
•a man who said someone took $1,727 in cash in 10
withdrawals on the same day, using his pin number.
•a woman said $1,179 was taken from her account
Oct. 7 and the same thing occurred, for $905, Sept. 13.
An old pin number and a new one were used on the
separate occasions.
•a woman said her bank contacted her about three
$200-plus transactions at three different gas stations
in Cobb County. She said it occurred 45 minutes after
she used it - as a credit card, per the store clerk - at a
local gas station.
MULTIPLE PEOPLE REPORT
MAIL TAMPERING
Multiple people on three routes reported mail taken
Oct. 5.
Three routes were involved from Jefferson River
Road to Airport Road and County Farm Road.
Numerous mail theft reports also were received from
Rayford Wilson and Mitchell roads.
Other people - a mother and daughter on Commerce
Road and a woman on County Farm Road - reported
mail had been tampered with Oct. 9 and a woman said
her mail had been opened Oct. 10.
The mother on Commerce Road said she had an
on-going problem with her mail.
She said she got a package with 200 CD containers
made of cardboard, and they were cut open and the
containers scattered along the road.
Her daughter also said her mail had been “tampered
with” and “found down the road some ways.”
The woman on County Farm Road said some of
her mail, including a piece from the American Kennel
Association, had been torn open.
The fourth call was from a woman on Rayford Wil
son Road. She said the incident happened overnight,
and she did not know if anything was taken.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents in the Jefferson area reported to the
Jackson County Sheriffs Office recently include:
•a car taken from Banks County was found at a house
on South Apple Valley Road. A woman said she “bor
rowed” the Dodge Spirit and lost the keys. She said she
did not have a phone to call the owner.
•two vehicles stopped on Highway 129 bypass were
towed because the drivers had no insurance,
•a man said his uncle yelled for him to come into the
front yard and fight him. He called 911 instead. He said
he wanted his uncle to stay off the property.
•a man said his wife’s father, who also is their land
lord, would not leave the house and yelled at him in
front of his son. The man and woman are divorcing.
She said her husband texted “angry rants” to her when
he learned her father would be staying at the house.
•a woman reported to the sheriff’s office that she
lost her weapons carrying permit. She said she looked
through her purse and wallet and did not find it.
•a woman on Blue Grass Drive said her husband and
she had found “random” items taken from their house
during the past several months. Money, jewelry and
miscellaneous household items were taken. She said
they confronted a woman who provides care for her
disabled husband after $20 in cash was taken in July.
The woman denied taking the money, but she offered
to replace it.
•a woman on Cedar Grove Church Road said a car,
late 1960s Ford Mustang, had followed her for about
a month. She said the car did not pass her, “but just
idled behind her.” One time she called her father from
a neighbor’s house. She said she did not know who was
driving the car and the license plate was covered “by a
dark plate cover.”
•a man on Redstone Road reported he discovered a
pistol missing from his house Oct. 1. The pistol was a
Springfield XDM 3.8-inch, .45 caliber. He said he took
the gun on vacation in July and came home July 10.
That week, he had painting contractors in the house.
The gun was in a dresser in the bedroom, which is
where the painters were.
•a man on Old Hickory Court said someone stole his
work laptop computer between 6 p.m. Oct. 4 and about
8 a.m. Oct. 5. The computer was in his vehicle in the
drive and was unlocked.
•an employee at Yancey Power Systems on Bill
Wright Road said he found an alarm trouble indicator

Suspicious man confronts juveniles
A suspicious man
reportedly confronted two
juveniles in Braselton.

iff’s Office deputies were
called to a New Cut Road
location on reports of sus
picious person.
A woman said an older
man driving a white
Ford Truck pulled into
her driveway and talked
to her two juvenile chil
dren. He reportedly asked
them if they wanted to
get something to eat with
him, but they declined.
The two daughters were
the only witnesses.

•suspicious person/
activity on Davenport
Road where a woman
heard someone rum
maging through her out
building and saw a man
run from the scene. She
thought they were trying
to take pallet wood.
•suicide attempt/threat
and welfare check on
Hwy. 53 where someone
reported hearing scream
ing and observing a juve
nile pull another juvenile
in the yard. One of the
girls had reportedly taken
medication and tied a
belt around her neck in
an attempt to kill her
self. The other juvenile
said she also tied a belt
around her neck. A med
unit checked both girls
and said it didn’t appear
the girl who had report
edly taken medication
had actually done so.
The Department of Fam
ily and Children Services
was called and the girls’
mother took them to the
hospital.
•suspicious vehicle on
Johnson Drive where a
vehicle reportedly drove
through a neighborhood
and randomly turned its
lights off and turned the
vehicle off. The com
plainant feared they may
be trying to commit theft.
•assist the Braselton
Police Department on
Johnson Road with a man
who fell asleep in a vehi
cle and possibly vomited
on the door. The driver
had called someone to
pick him up.
•speeding vehicles
on New Liberty Church
Road.
•threats on Keys Lane
where a woman said her
father threatened to kill
her and her family if he
gets back to the country.
He was reportedly upset
with a divorce settlement
between him and his
ex-wife.
•civil dispute on Whites
Bottom Road where
a couple argued over a
debit card and cell phone.
•civil matter on Lewis
Braselton Boulevard
where a man said repairs
weren’t completed on his
bike at a business. The
shop owner said the man
hadn’t yet paid the full
cost for the repairs.
•drug information on
Blanc Way where some
one reported someone
was growing marijuana
indoors.
•drug information on
Ednaville Road where
someone reported drug
activity and underage
drinking were occurring.
•speeding auto on Char
lie Cooper Road where a
woman reported a vehi
cle sped down the road
and almost hit her in her
driveway. She confront
ed the driver, who later
drove by with a man and
yelled at her and “shot
her a bird.”
•suspicious activity
on Venture Court where
someone reported a
squatter.
•suspicious vehicle on
Tom White Road where
a vehicle was parked at a
closed business.
•information on Hick
ory Bluff where a man
suspects someone took
his identification and W-2
form.
•theft by taking on Dav
enport Road where a car
was stolen. It was later
recovered in Hall Coun
ty and may have been
involved in a hit and run
in Braselton.
•theft by taking on
Lamar Cooper Road
where a woman report
ed a couple in a maroon
truck with fender damage
stole her concrete statue
and cast iron wash-pot.
HOSCHTON
Incidents reported to
the JCSO in Hoschton
were:
•armed robbery on
Hwy. 53 where a man
threw gas on a clerk and
threatened to set him on
fire. The clerk fought
with the suspect, who
then fled towards West
Broad Street.
•aggravated stalking on
Clovermill Drive where
a man showed up at his
estranged wife’s house
sobbing. He reported
ly told her he couldn’t
live without her. When he
eventually left, he report
edly texted the woman,
“I’m going to go end it.
Mother f**king all right
now, bye” before texting,
calling and emailing a
multitude of times.
•criminal damage to
property on Hwy. 332
where someone damaged
a heat box on a water
pump. The complainant
suspects it may have
been juveniles.
•custody dispute on
Penny Lane where a
woman said his ex-wife
dropped off their children
15 minutes late.
•theft by taking on
Delaperriere Loop where
a woman lost a wallet at a
garage sale.
•child abuse allega
tions on Tapp Wood Road
where someone reported
a child put an acorn down
another child’s pants. The
suspect also reported
ly put his hands in the
child’s pants and other
children’s pants in previ
ous incidents.
•assist EMS on Wal
nut Drive after a man
was “knocked out” in a
four-wheeler wreck.
•dispute on Rouse Road
where a couple argued.
•verbal dispute on
Bradmore Court where
a reportedly intoxicated
woman’s family took her
keys because she tried to
leave the residence via
vehicle.
•information on Pocket
Road where a woman left
a man and told him to call
her about custody of their
child.
•suspicious activity on
Ednaville Road where a
woman twice saw a man
walking down the road
and shining a flashlight
towards her house.
•criminal trespass on
Bill Watkins Road where
a man refused to leave his
ex-wife’s mother’s house.
He was reportedly intox
icated and officers gave
him a courtesy ride to his
residence.
•damage to property on
Hwy. 332 where a vehi
cle struck another vehicle
and left the scene.
•false imprisonment on
Jackson Trail Road where
a man took a woman’s
cell phone and refused
to let her out of the vehi
cle. He was reportedly
driving erratically and
crying after confronting
the woman about wanting
to see his daughter more
often. The complainant
said she tried to get out
of the vehicle multiple
times, honked the horn
and screamed for help.
The man eventually took
her home and threw her
cell phone at her.
•disturbance on Adden-
brooke Way where some
one reported loud music.
•assist the Georgia
State Patrol with a crash
on Jackson Trail Road
that reportedly resulted in
injuries and an entrap
ment. When deputies
arrived, they found an
overturned vehicle with
no one inside.
•information on Josh
ua Way where a resident
asked officers to search a
vehicle that was on their
property.
•drug information on
Kiley Drive where some
one reported drug activity
was occurring.
•drug information on
Maddox Road where
someone reported drug
activity was occurring.
•suspicious vehicle
on Oak Street where a
vehicle without a tag was
reported. It was loaded
with household items.
•adult protective ser
vices referral on West
Jefferson Street.
•suspicious activity on
New Street where some
one reported a possible
attempted break-in. The
complainant suspected
someone tampered with a
lock on the residence.
•suicide on Wehunt
Road where a man hanged
himself.
•death investigation
on White Street where a
woman was found dead
after texting a niece,
“Bye, this is something
I had to do.” The woman
was unresponsive and
bleeding when officers
found her. She had a
revolver in her hand near
her head.
