Campers work on Georgia STEM’S 100 Cup
Challenge during a recent camp in Commerce.
Georgia Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics, a nonprofit group, recently teamed
up with Commerce City Schools to host “Little
STEM Scientists” for kindergarten-second grade
students. Campers from across Jackson and the
surrounding area spent the week “immersed in
science, technology, engineering and math.” They
painted with chemical reactions, created ecosys
tems in a bottle, built a giant fort out of PVC pipes
and learned how to make bubbles bounce. “We
had a STEMtastic week with all the little scien
tists in Jackson County and cannot wait to come
back in the fall for some awesome STEMtastic
Saturdays and Parent Night Out events,” said
camp coordinator Kelly Cassidy. For information
about upcoming opportunities in the area, follow
Georgia STEM on Facebook, or on Twitter (@
Georgia_STEM).
