JCSO incidents - Nicholson and South Jackson
Man assaults vehicle with a hammer
Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s
office recently responded to a call on Hunt Club
Rd. by a man who said his girlfriend’s ex-husband
beat his vehicle with a hammer.
The man said he took the girlfriend to the hus
band’s house so he could sign divorce papers,
but before they could pull into the driveway, the
husband went out and beat on the windshield and
the hood with a hammer and caused $800 worth of
damage.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents recently reported to the JCSO in
Nicholson were:
•suspicious person on Tac Jabbs Dr. where a
woman said there were two men standing in her
front yard.
•noise complaint on Hwy. 129 where a woman
complained about loud music coming from a neigh
boring residence.
•information Broad St. where a three-wheeler
owned by a man with an arrest warrant was left at
a gas station.
•noise complaint on Brooks Dr. where someone
complained about loud music coming from a neigh
boring trailer.
•welfare check on Cabin Creek Cir. where a
woman said her daughter was doing drugs and
wanted officers to check on her, but they were
unable to make contact.
•suspicious person on Brockton Rd. where some
one alerted police about a woman standing on the
side of the road. The person was a realtor who was
showing off a residence to potential buyers.
•information on Cedar Dr. where a man com
plained about rocks being stolen from the historic
site of Cross Roads School.
•threats on Ed Bennett Rd. where a man com
plained about getting a phone call from a man
threatening to beat him up.
•DFCS referral on Blackthorn Rd. where a man
complained about a child picking up his child by
the throat while it was staying at its mother’s res
idence.
•theft by taking on Hawks Ct. where a man com
plained about a window air conditioning unit being
stolen from a residence he was evicted from.
•reckless conduct on Hunt Club Rd. where a man
complained about a woman firing a gun at him
from a vehicle driving down the street.
•theft by taking on Plantation Crossing where a
woman admitted to stealing jewelry from a woman
she was housesitting for.
•unlawful conduct during a 911 call on Jim
David Rd. where a woman called for a welfare
check on her child and accused her ex-husband of
threatening to beat him. The ex-husband and child
denied that, and a DFCS representative said that
the woman makes up things about her ex-husband.
•verbal dispute on Woodpecker Fn. where a
woman said she got into an argument with her
husband over their daughter. The husband left the
residence with the daughter.
•assisted a motorist who ran out of gas on Hwy.
441.
•animal complaint on Hunt Club Rd. where an
officer scolded a man for trying to hit a dog with
his vehicle.
•theft by taking on Pine Ridge PI. where a woman
complained about someone stealing her medica
tions.
•theft by taking on Pine Ridge PI. where a man
complained about someone stealing the headlights
off his lawnmower.
SOUTH JACKSON
Other incidents recently reported to the JCSO in
Athens/South Jackson were:
•suspicious person on Hwy. 441 where some
one complained about a couple walking down the
street, looking in people’s mailboxes while carry
ing a yellow buggy with a trash bag.
•a woman on Chairing Cross Fn. complained
about a herd of cattle coming onto her yard.
•vehicle fire on Hwy. 129 where a woman said
her vehicle started getting hot so she pulled over
and then the vehicle caught on fire.
•stalking on Jefferson River Rd. where a man
complained about his ex-girlfriend violating a tem
porary protection order and harassing him.
•assisted GSP and Athens Clarke County with an
accident on Hwy. 441.
•assisted GSP with an accident on Hwy. 441.
•assisted medical units on Jefferson River Rd.
where an elderly man was found unconscious
behind the wheel of an ATV.
•criminal trespass on Hwy. 330 where a woman
complained about a couple driving into her yard
and ringing her doorbell before leaving. Cameras
that she has on her property showed a view of the
license plate and the vehicle was reported stolen
out of Athens.
Commerce PD
Motorcyclist with drugs wrecks trying to evade police
Cody James Fark, 29, 5340 Truman Mountain
Rd., Gainesville, was arrested after he crashed his
motorcycle while trying to evade police.
Officers noticed Fark driving recklessly so they
attempted to stop him. Fark then couldn’t keep
his motorcycle on the road and he slipped into an
embankment. He then fled the scene on foot, but
was soon caught.
Dispatch confirmed a warrant out of Gainesville
for probation violation and his motorcycle hadn’t
been insured since 1993. During a search of the
motorcycle, officers found marijuana and metham-
phetamine, and devices for using both drugs.
OTHER ARRESTS
Other arrests recently made by the Commerce
Police Department were:
•Brandon Watson, 31, 176 Pine St., Jefferson -
warrant service.
•Jason Fee Wrinkle, 44, 545 Shankle Rd., Com
merce - public drunkenness. Wrinkle was at a
courtroom drunk in the Commerce Civic Center.
•Crissy Nicole Patrick, 34, 632 Madison St.,
Commerce - warrant service. Officers responded
to a residence on Madison St. where a boy said
his grandmother was high on methamphetamine.
But she insisted that the boy was on drugs. During
the meeting, dispatch confirmed a warrant for the
boy’s mother out of Banks County.
•Tyler Thomas Finch, 24, 195 Porter Rd., Mays-
ville - possession of marijuana. Police pulled
Finch over for not having his seatbelt on and his
vehicle not being insured. During the stop, they
noticed the smell of marijuana and found some
during a search.
•Aaron Matthew Hopkins, 47, 171 Timberwood
Trl. - possession of marijuana - Hopkins was
pulled over for speeding and he consented to a
search of his vehicle where officers found bags of
marijuana and a box of pipes.
•Timothy Fee Webb, 31, Old Hwy. 441 - warrant
service.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents recently reported to the Com
merce PD were:
•damage to vehicle on 1-85 where a lawnmow
er in the median slung a large object towards the
windshield of a vehicle.
•hit and run on B. Wilson Rd. where a woman
found the driver side of her vehicle damaged when
she left a store.
•theft by taking on Maysville Rd. where a woman
had been stealing money from a convenience store
that she worked at.
•theft of mislaid property on B. Wilson Rd. where
a woman left her phone at a store another person
claimed it as their own.
•burglary, theft by taking and criminal trespass
on Carson St. where drinks and snacks were stolen
from the concession stand of the Commerce Rec
Department’s pool.
•domestic dispute on Crossing Place where a man
kicked his girlfriend out of his residence and she
took two of his video game controllers and his dog.
•damage to property on North Elm St. where a
truck hauling a volleyball net went through a drive
thru and the top of the posts hit the roof of the drive
thru.
•damage to property on Crossing Place where a
vehicle hit the exit gate of an apartment complex.
•forgery on Ridgeway Rd. where a man com
plained about a tenant who paid him with a coun
terfeit $100.
•debit account fraud on Crossing Place where a
woman owed her bank $3,000 for using counterfeit
money orders from a group that was scamming her
for money.
•criminal trespass on Bowden St. where a man
found a passenger side door handle torn off his
vehicle.
Superior Court of Jackson County
Superior Court of Jackson County hands down sentences
Sentences in Jackson County State
Court recently include:
•Amanda Norris - use of fighting
words, reduced to disorderly conduct
- 90 days in jail with credit for time
served.
•Jonathan Dembeck - battery-family
violence - 17 days in jail with credit for
time served, 12 months probation, 12
anger management classes, $500 fine
and no violent contact with victim.
•Ryderrick Grier - giving a false name
and date of birth - 30 days with credit
for time served.
•Addison Staud - DUI-marijuana -14
days with credit for time served, 12
months probation, $600 fine, 40 hours
of community service, drug and alcohol
evaluation and risk reduction program.
A charge of failure to maintain lane was
dismissed.
•Kentavious Walker - possession of
less than an ounce of marijuana - 12
days with credit for time served, 12
months probation and $600 fine.
•Farry Beck - harassing phone calls -
12 months in jail, suspended all but 30
days on staying out of the county and
no contact whatsoever with any relative
by blood or marriage in Jackson County.

Please take notice that the City of Nicholson has received the following application. The
Nicholson Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing and consider a recommendation
on this application on June 26, 2018, at 6:00 pm at the Benton Center, 5488 US Hwy 441 S,
Nicholson, GA. The Nicholson City Council will conduct a public hearing and work session on
these applications on June 28, 2018, at 6:30 pm, at the Nicholson Community Center, 129

RR (Rural Residential) zoning district. Proposed use: manufactured home.
