Man steals ex’s phone to steal money
Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s office
were recently called out to Hoods Mill Rd. by a
woman who complained about her ex-boyfriend
taking her phone.
She said that she doesn’t want anything to do with
the boyfriend anymore so he resorted to threatening
her on social media. Recently, he went over to her
residence to visit their child and during the visit, he
stole her phone.
With her phone, he tried to send $200 to a friend
and accessed her Apple ID account and changed her
security questions.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other incidents recently reported to the JCSO in
Commerce were:
•assisted medical units on Hwy. 441 with a man
who had a panic attack and jumped out of an ambu
lance and took off running. Officers detained him
and he was taken to Piedmont Hospital.
•damage to vehicle on Waterworks Rd. where a
man complained about being driven off the road by
an oncoming motorist who couldn’t keep their lane.
•recovered a stolen firearm on Settlement Rd.
where officers went to a residence to issue a tempo
rary protection order, but the subject wasn’t there.
Officers did find a stolen firearm and seized it.
•information on Mt. Olive Rd. where a woman
received a letter from the IRS stating that her Social
Security number was possibly being used.
•information on Barber Rd. where a woman com
plained about a male co-worker who sent her a link
to a website with a gallery of pictures that included
one of a penis.
•theft by taking on Apple Valley Rd. where a
woman said someone stole her mailbox.
•criminal trespass on Hoods Mill Rd. where a man
complained about people riding four-wheelers on
his property.
•criminal trespass on A.C. Smith Rd. where a man
wanted the grandparents of his child criminally tres
passed for entering their residence without permis
sion when they came to pick up the child.
•civil matter on S. Broad St. where a man com
plained about being fired and evicted by his boss.
The boss said that the man was hired to maintain
his business, but he had a drinking and possibly
a drug problem. He also said that there was no
living agreement.
•theft by taking on Steven B. Tanger Blvd. where
a woman complained about the father of her child
returning items that she had bought at the outlet mall
without her permission.
•theft on Woods Bridge Rd. where a man stole
scrap metal from a construction site, but he returned
the metal when confronted.
•battery on Richmond Way where a woman said
her boyfriend slapped her in the face.
•damage to vehicle on Steven B. Tanger Blvd.
where a woman returned from shopping to find her
vehicle damaged.
•harassing phone calls on Apple Valley Rd. where
a woman complained about her ex-boyfriend con
stantly calling her and threatening to kill her.
•burglary, theft by taking and criminal trespass on
Clyde Short Rd. where someone cut a lock to get
into a property and then stole a vehicle.
•vehicle accident with a deer on Hoods Mill Rd.
•assisted GSP with an accident on Hwy. 441.
•assisted GSP with an accident on Hwy. 98.
•assisted Commerce Police with an accident on B.

JCSO incidents - Pendergrass and Talmo
Nephew threatens to behead uncle over property dispute in Talmo
An alleged dispute over property reportedly turned
threatening last week.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were
called to Old State Rd., Talmo, for reports of threat.
A man said while attending church, someone told
him his cows were out. He left to put the cows back
up and had a confrontation with his nephew. (The
two reportedly have an ongoing dispute after the
uncle was given power of attorney over property
where the nephew lives.)
The nephew reportedly told him not to come down
there anymore. He allegedly said that, if he did, he
“had something for him” and that he’d cut his head
off.
The uncle inquired about the eviction process.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Other recent incidents reported in Pendergrass and
Talmo were:
•possible burglary on Holly Springs Rd. where a
juvenile apparently heard a noise and thought there
was an intruder. Officers cleared the residence, not
finding an intruder.
•welfare check on Lipscomb Lake Rd. where offi
cers checked on a woman after her sister reported
she couldn’t get in touch with her. The woman said
she was O.K.
•information on Hwy. 60 where officers checked
on residents after a possibly stolen car was found in
Barrow County. The resident was O.K.
•noise complaint on John B. Brooks Rd. where
warehouse workers apparently played loud music in
the parking lot at night, disturbing neighbors.
•follow-up report on Old State Rd. where a man
thought he saw someone driving his motorcycle.
•mental person on Brooks Rd. where officers
transported a woman from the hospital after she
reported chemicals were coming through her vehicle
vents and burning her face and eyes. She also report
ed her ex-husband previously released chemicals in
the residence while she was inside. She also claimed
a family member, who she lives with, re-worked the
electrical breaker, so it shocks her while she lies in
bed.
•damage to vehicle on John B. Brooks Rd. where
a vehicle was damaged slightly after another vehicle
rolled and struck it.
•animal complaint on Forest Lake Dr. where a man
reported a dog was tethered and whining because it
couldn’t move. When the owner untethered the dog
— which officers said appeared to be under fed — it
jumped a fence and got out.
•possible child kidnapping on Meadow Oak Dr.
where a woman reported her child’s grandmother
refused to return the child to her. She reportedly
took the child to the beach.
•suspicious activity on Glenn Abby Ln. where
juveniles reportedly shot arrows that landed in a
neighbor’s yard.
•dog complaint and animal control referral on
Murphy Rd. where a man reported a neighbor’s dog
wouldn’t leave his residence. He also suspected one
of them killed his chicken.
•simple assault-Family Violence Act and obstruc
tion of officers on Brooks Rd. where a woman was
taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation after
she was reported for being loud and possibly under
the influence of drugs. She was also uncooperative
with officers.
•criminal trespass on Wayne Poultry Rd. where a
utilities employee saw a man running near a sub
station. The employee also found copper grounding
wire had been cut.
•stolen medications on Valentine Industrial Pkwy.
where a woman said her medications were stolen
from her locker.
•information on Mangum Ln. where a woman
was transported to the hospital. She reportedly
refused to take her medication and said she wanted
to die.
•suspicious vehicles on Forest Lake Rd. where
someone reported juveniles were riding on a
four-wheeler and mopeds without helmets.
•verbal dispute on A.J. Irwin Rd. where a woman
reported a couple was arguing and a man appeared
to be chasing a woman. Officers didn’t find the
couple.
•suspicious vehicle on Old Gainesville Hwy.
where officers found a woman in a vehicle who was
reportedly confused and changed her story several
times about what she was doing. She told officers
she had car trouble. She also claimed the DNR
had spray-painted her car and threatened her. EMS
checked on the woman and took her to the hospital.
•damage to property on Hwy. 129 where a vehicle
struck another, causing minor damage.

Two charged after slow-speed pursuit
Two people were recently arrested
after a slow-speed pursuit in Braselton.
Officers with the Braselton Police
Department arrested Desmond Lamar,
21, 3008 Express Ln., Buford, for
failure to maintain lane; fleeing or
attempting to elude a police officer;
possession of a firearm by a con
victed felon; possession of a firearm
while committing a crime; and posses
sion of marijuana less than an ounce.

Apple Grove Dr., Buford, was arrested
for possession of a pistol or revolver
by someone under 18 years old.
Officers stopped the vehicle for fail
ing to maintain lane. But Lamar kept
driving and led officers on a slow-
speed pursuit in the area before ulti
mately stopping.
Meade was found with a firearm
down her pants, which Lamar said he
asked her to hide.
Lamar also said he ate marijuana
that officers smelled in the vehicle,
but officers found a small amount of
the substance still inside the car.
Lamar also reportedly had a warrant
and told officers he was on probation.
OTHER ARRESTS
Other recent arrests made by the
BPD were:
•Ricky Escobedo, 37, 5496 Oakfern
Tr., Llowery Branch; and Amanda
Pendergrass, 32, 261 Griffith St.,
Braselton — wanted persons. The two
were arrested after officers learned
they had warrants during a traffic stop.
Officers did not indicate why they
pulled the vehicle over in the incident
report.
•Bryan Allen Jenkins, 38, 3081 West
Marks Rd., Marks, Miss. — open
container; improper lane change; and
driving under the influence (DUI) in
a commercial vehicle. Jenkins report
edly side-swiped another vehicle.
Officers smelled alcohol on him and
he admitted to having a beer. Jenkins
was arrested after a field sobriety test.
He reportedly used insulting language
and profanity against the officer.
Officers found several open containers
of alcohol in the vehicle. During the
drive to the jail, officers said the man
made several racial comments towards
them and said the officers “messed
up his life.” He was reportedly unco
operative and had to be escorted into
the jail.
•Michael Steven Chance, 35, 3190
Rosewood Way, Loganville — pos
session of a controlled substance
(cocaine). Chance was the passenger
in a vehicle stopped for running a
stop sign. He reportedly made uncon
trollable movements throughout the
incident. The driver denied having
anything illegal in the vehicle and
refused a search, but Chance allowed
them to search his person. They found
him hiding cocaine under his shoe. He
admitted to possessing the substance,
so the driver was let go despite having
drug-related objects in her purse.
•Salvador Donal Bernal, 40, 4273
Melinda Ln., Gainesville — failure
to obey traffic control device; open
container; and DUI. Officers stopped
Bernal’s vehicle for failing to yield and
almost causing a crash. They smelled
alcohol on him and he was arrested
after a field sobriety test. They also
found a water bottle with wine inside.
•Kristen J. Gentilozzi, 45, 7411
Switchback Ln., Llowery Branch —
no insurance; open container; suspend
ed registration; and DUI. Gentilozzi
was stopped for driving a vehicle with
no insurance. She reportedly appeared
intoxicated, but denied drinking and
said she’d just purchased a bottle of
liquor. She was arrested after field
sobriety and breath tests. Officers also
found an open container of vodka
in the vehicle, along with a cup that
smelled of alcohol.
Marijuana citations given in
separate Braselton incidents
Several people were
recently cited for pos
session of a small
amount of marijuana in
Braselton.
Officers with the
Braselton Police
Department reported the
following:
•possession of mari
juana less than an ounce
on Hwy. 211 where offi
cers stopped a vehicle
that was parked illegally
in a handicap spot. They
smelled marijuana and
cited the passengers for
possession of marijuana
after they found the sub
stance.
•possession of mari
juana less than an ounce
on Hwy. 124 where offi
cers smelled marijuana
coming from a parked
vehicle. A man was
cited after turning over
the substance.
