When an officer with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Of fice arrived at the residence on Winder Hwy., Jefferson, the complainant was hold ing an AR-15 pointed at the ground and was standing near Frank Jerome McKnight, 67, 37 Carolyn St., Auburn. McKnight said he owns a business and part of what he does is locate abandoned properties to see if he could purchase them, restore and re-sell them. McKnight said he went to check an outbuilding and when he opened the door an alarm went off and he closed the door and went to the front of the residence to leave. The complainant said he had been having issues with people coming onto his prop erty and stealing items from the residence and the out buildings. McKnight was charged with loitering or prowling. COMMERCE Incidents reported to the JCSO in Commerce were: •accident with a deer on Interstate 85 North, Com merce. •information at a Gober Dr., Commerce, residence, where a man reported a woman whom he had sent nude photos of himself to had threatened to send them to everyone in his contact list if he didn’t send her $200. •damage to property at a Hickory Dr., Commerce, res idence, where a man reported his son woke him up and told him he saw a man attempt to steal his vehicle out of the driveway. •assist medical unit at a Ridgeway Church Rd., Com merce. residence, where a drug overdose was reported. •dispute at a Yar- brough-Ridgeway Rd., Com merce. location, where a man reported his girlfriend’s son “threatened him with a base ball bat.” •information at Tanger Outlets, Steven B. Tanger Blvd., Commerce, where a woman believed her vehicle might have been stolen. The vehicle was located in the parking lot. •information at a White Hill School Rd., Commerce, residence. •theft by shoplifting at Ralph Lauren-Polo, Steven B. Tanger Blvd., Commerce, where an employee reported a man stole over $1,200 in clothing items from the store. •information at a Wa terwheel Dr.. Commerce, where a woman reported her husband, whom she has a Temporary Protective Order (TPO) against was driving by her house. •assist motorist on Steven B. Tanger Blvd., Commerce, where a tractor-trailer was parked in the roadway. •death investigation (non-murder) at a White School Rd., Commerce, res idence, where a man was found unresponsive in his front yard. •assist medical unit at a Bolton-Gordon Rd.. JEFFERSON Incidents reported to the JCSO in Jefferson were: •dispute at a Links Blvd., Jefferson, residence, between a man and his son. •basic rules violation, Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol and failure to maintain lane on Jefferson River Rd. at Trotters Ridge, See JCSO, page 6A Jackson County Jail Log Recent arrests made in county Jefferson PD Hit and run reported at Kubota plant An employee at Kubota reported a hit and run in the parking lot. The complainant told Jefferson Po lice Department officers he parked his vehicle in the parking lot on McClure Industrial Pkwy. on Saturday, Decem ber 19, at 6 a.m. and when he came back to his vehicle around 4 p.m. there was a dent and scratches on the driv er’s door. OTHER INCIDENTS Other incidents recently reported to the JPD were: •information report where a woman reported her employer has had their work email hacked and money taken from her employer’s payroll account. She said the payroll department ad vised they received an email a few weeks ago requesting that her pay be deposited into another account. The complainant said she notified the com pany of the fraud and they also filed a police report. •miscellaneous report at the Jeffer son Police Department, Washington St., Jefferson, where a former Amazon employee reported her old Amazon manager had been harassing her for over a year. She said she kept blocking his number but he kept making new numbers and continued to message her. She said he told her he had a gun and he had tried to kick in the door at her sister’s residence in Athens. She also said he had raped her about 11 months ago at his house somewhere in Commerce. •civil matter at RaceTrac, Hwy. 129, Jefferson, where a dispute was report ed involving two tractor-trailers driv ers and an employee of a “booting” company. •wanted person located at an Elrod Ave.. Jefferson, residence, where a dispute was reported. •miscellaneous at an Oak Ln., Jef ferson, residence, where a man report ed the driver of an Amazon van got stuck in his ditch and broke the water shut-off valve. •fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer on W.J. Dills Rd., Jefferson, where a traffic stop was at tempted on a driver running 95 miles per hour on Hwy. 129 South at Acade my Church Rd. The driver turned onto W.J. Dills Road and then jumped out and took off running on foot behind the home. Officers were unable to lo cate the driver. •information report at a Holders Sid ing Rd., Jefferson, residence, where a domestic dispute between a woman and her husband was reported.
