A cernficate from ttire- members of the
MEDICAL PROFESSION iu Germany,
in Europe.
We, t lie undersigned, practitioners of me
dicine in Germany are well aware that, liv
our course, we inav forfeit the friendship of
some of the faculty, but not of its benevo
lent members, who are uninfluenced by sel
fisli motives. Though we shall refrain Irom
in expression of our opinion, either o! the
snntidness or unsound ness of Dr. Goelicke’s
new doctrine , wc are happy to say that xve
deem his Sanative too valuable not to be
generally known—for what our eyes behold
and our ears hear, xve must believe.
We hereby state, that xvlien Dr. Louis
Oifon Goelicke first came, before the German
public, as the pretended discoverer of a nexv
doctrine and anew medicine, xve held him in
the. highest contempt.believing, and openly
pronouncing him to be a b isc impostor and
the prince of quacks. But, on hearing so
much -laid about the Sanative, against it and
for it, we xvere induced, from motives of cu
riosity merelv, to make trial of its reputed
virtues upon a number of our most hopeless
patients;and we now deem it oar bounded
duty (even at the expense of our self inter
est) publicly to acknowledge its efficacy iu
curing not only eonsumtition, but other fe ir
fitl iirn'idies, which xve have heretofore be
lieved to ':j Incurable. O.tr contempt for
the discoverer of this medicine was at once
sxvallowed up in our utter astonishment at
thc.e unexpected results; and, as arn-.oiL
far our abuse of him, xve do frankly confess
tothe xvnrld, that xve believe him a philan
thropist who docs honor t i the profession,
and to our eountiy, which gave him birth.
The recent adoption of tats medicine into
some of our European hospitals is a suffi
ent guaranty that it performs all its promises.
It needed not our testimony for wherever it
is us**d is its own best witness.

GENERAL REMARKS RELATIVE
TO MOFFAT’S LIFE PILLS AND
PIKE.MX BITTERS.
These medicines have long been kuoxvn
ami appreciated, for tlieirextraoidinary and
immediate poxvers of restoring perfect health
to persons suffering u der nearly every kind
of disease to which the human frame is liable.
In many hundredsof certificated instances
they have even rescued sufferers from the
very verge es an untimely grave, after all
tlic.deceptive nostrums of the day had utterly
failed; and to many thousands the have
permanently secured that uniform enjoy
ment ol' he dth, xvithout which life itself is
but a partial blessing, feo great, indeed,
has their efficacy invariably and infallibly
proved that it has appeared scarcely less
than miraculous to those who were unac
quainted with ihe beautifully philosophical
principles upon which they are compoun
ded, and upon which they consequently
act. It was to their manifest and sensible
action in purifying the springs and channels
of life, and enduing them with renewed tone
and vigor, that they were indebted for theit
name, which ivas bestow**d upon them at the
spontaneous request of several individuals
whose lives tliey had obviously saved.
The proprietor rejoices in the opportuni
ty affoidedby the universal diffusion of the
daily press for placeing his VEGETABLE
LIFE PILLS xviihin the knowledge and
reach of eve’y individual in the community.
Unlike tli!? host of pernicious quackeries,
which boast of vege'able ingredients, the
Life Pills are purely and solely vegetable,
and contain neither Mercury, Antimony,
Arsnic, nor any mineral whatever. They are
entirely composed of extracts from rare and
powerful plants, the virtues ofwhich, though
!r>:ig known to several Indian tribes, ami re
cently to some eminent pharmaceutical
chemists, arc altogether unkooxvn to the ig
norant pretenders to medical sci nee; and
were never before administered iu so happi
ly efficacious a combination.
Their first operation is to loosen from the
coats of-the stomach and bowels, the various
immirities and crudities constantly setting a
ifimrl them; and to remove the hardened
feces w hich collect in the convolutions of the
small intestines. Ollier medicines only par
tially cleanse these, and leave such collected
masses behind, as to produce habitual cos
tivenesK with all its train of evils, or sud
dendiarrh'ca, with its imminent dangers.—
This fact is well known to all regular anat
omists, who examine the human bow-els af
ter death ; and hence tiie prejudice of those
w** 1 informed men against tliequack medi
cines of the age. 'l'he second effect of the
YExJ E TABLE LIFE PILLS is to cleans.*
the kidneys ane tlte bladder, and by this
means, the liverand the lungs, the healthful
action of xvliieh enti etv depends upon the
regularity of the urinary organs. The
blood, xvhich takes its red color from the
agency of the liver and the lungs before it
passes into the heart, being thus purified bv
them, and nourished by food coming from
a clean stomach, courses freely through the
veins, renexvs every part of the system, and
triumphantly mounts the banner of healthy
in the blooming cheek.
The following ?re among- the distressing
variety of human diseases, to xvhich the Ve
getable Life Pills arc well known to be in
fallible •
DYSPEPSIA, by thoroughly cleansing
the first and second stomachs, and creating
a (low or of pure healthy bile, instead of
the stale and acrid kind:— Flatulency, Pal
pitation of the. Heart Lass of appetite. Heart
burn arid Ilead-ache, Restlessness, ill-temper.
Anxiety Languor, and tfclancholly. which
are the general svmtnms of Dyspepsia, will
vanish, as a natural consequence of its cure.
Costiveness, by cleansing the whole length
of the intestines with a solvent process and
without violence ; all violent purges leave the
bowels costive within two days, Dirt hce i
anti Ckoleia, by removing the sharp acrid
fluids by which tllese complaints are occa
sioned, and by promoting the lucrative se
cretion of the mucas membrane Fevers of
all Icin Is by restoring the blood to a reg
ular circulation, through the process o per
spiration in some cases, anti the thorough
solution of all intestinal obstructions in oth
ers. The LIFE PILLS have, been known
to cure Rheumatism permanently in three
weeks, and Gout in half that time, by remov
ing local inflammation from the muscles,
and ligaments of the joints. Dropsies of all
finds, by freeing and strengthening the kid
neys and bladder ; they operate most de
lightfully on these important organs and
hence have ever been found a certain remedy
for the worst cases of Gravel. Also, Worms,
by dislodging from the turnings of the bow
els the slimy matter to which these crea
tures adhere ; Asthma and consumption, by
relieving the air vessels of the lungs from
the mucus, which even slight colds will
cecason, which if not removed becomes har
dened, and produces those dreadful diseas
es Scurvey, Ulcers, ami Invcrtcrate. Sores,
by the perfect purity which these Life Pill>
rive to the blood, and all the humors;
'scorbutic Fruptions, and, Had Complexions,
by their alterative effect upun the fluids that
feed the skin, the morbid state of which oc
casions all Eruptive complaints, Satow, Clou
l// and other disa g<-eenh\e Complexions. —
The use of these Pills for a very short time,
will effect an entire cure of Salt rheum.
Erysipelas, and a striking improvement in
the Clearness of the skin. Common Colds and
Influenza will always be cured by one dose,
or by two. even in the worst cases. Piles.
—as a remedy for this most distressing
and obstinate malady, the Vegetable Life
Pills deserve a distinct end emphatic re
commendation. It is w II known to hun
