THE MAINE DIFFICULTY.
i lie people of Ceorgiu are beginning lot
manifest a proper spirit in relation to the
oulrage committed on their rights by the!
majority of the Senate at the lust session of
die Legislature. But oue universal seuti
incut pervades, or ought to pervade the

ol Maine, and the cowardly course of the
Senate of Georgia in refusing to assert and!

citizens.
On this subject vve shall coutiuue to speak
out plainly and freely, and as far as in our 1
power lies, to show to the people of the
country, the absolute necessity ol protect
ing our sovereignty, and of electing those to
.office who will fearlessly do theii duty, aud!
not look with quietness and submission up

jshall want the people of Stewart County to!
know who ol their late representatives, if
any, voted in the Legislature for permitting*
the abolitionist ol Maine to steal our negroes'
with impunity and insult us by declaring
in our faces that negro stealing is no crime.
It is time that all should know who are the
real ftiendsjof State Rights, and who the pre

are alway s the very first to yield up the lion !

| Messrs. Editors—The Commissioners
have issued their orders to have s"veral roads
leading to Florence worked upon. That
part of the road within the corporate limits
of the Town leading to Lumpkin is in a|
most wretched condition. Tbete have been
great complaints in the country concerning*
the ..hnost impassable condition of the
Streets immediately adjoining the Cotton
Ware House in your Town, and suffer me
to sav, not without just cause.
Would it not, therefore, be to the interest
|of the citizens of Florence to show some
|S|>irit of road improvement ?
