oives the following piece of intelligence,
well worth remembering:
Heat a shovel not quito to redness.
And then place upon it a teaspoonful ol
freshly burned coffee and let it burn
in a room where the air is impure. Atj
first you will not perceive the peculiar
odor of the entice at all; in a lew mo A
meats however you will find the room
is filled witli the smell ot coffee, and :
that every impurity of the atmosphere
has been totally destroyed—not sinotli- 1
ered. Let some of your scientillic
renders try it, where the air is peculiar- ;
ly Ibul, and note the results and explain
the modus operand! of the disinfected
process.
Remember, the shovel must be only !
so hot as to cause the codec to bun:
w ith u copious white smoke, and the j
quality indicated above may be need

is peculiarly grateful.

Dll. W. W. MARSHALL;—Dear Sir—
The great relief! have recently received at
year hands, induces me to oiler my testimony
to your successful treatment of Cancerous nlfec-
I tiotts.
Some ten years ago, a small lump,*some
thing like a wart, made its appearance in the
centre of my lower lip, giving me at first no in
convenience or pain. Alter several years it
began to grow. 1 then applied to a physician
who cut it otl'bclow the surface of the lip and
burnt it with caustic, and I thought, cured it.
Inti short time afterwards, it reappeared and
! grew more rapidly than before- affecting with
in the lust six months, the glands of the neck,
and giving me occasionally considerable pain.
My physicians gave it as their opinion that it
was cancerous and that nothing could relieve
me Inn the knife.
In this situation 1 put myself under your
treatment, on the lOth September last, and to
i day, I think 1 may snlely say, that l am well.
1 I trust that you will long live to afford relief to
the afflicted and distr< ssed. With my warmest
thanks, for your kind and constant attention
during my stay with you,
1 am respectfully, yours,

HniilS PREPARATION is made as pure ns
-L possible. Its bitter taste, and beneficial ef
fects in diseases of the Liver, nnd diseases
amiug_ from an impure state of the Blood,
prove it to be the purest and most useful prepar
ation of Sarsaparilla that is made.
Those who have used the various prepara
tions of Sarsaparilla will find, by the taste and
effect, that there is more Sarsaparilla in one
| buttle of Dr. D’s. preparation, than in half a
; dozen bottles as it is generally made.
That it might be more particularly adapted
\ to professional use, nothing but the pure Sarsa
-1 pariila has been used, that for different disea
| ses, physicians might combine or prescribe with
| it, such articles as they might consider most
; appropriate in cases under their treatment.
Its alterative and ntiidly purgative effect
! upon the bowels, make it not only a good snb
; stitute for Mercury, but useful in removing all
| diseases arising from the imprudent use ol
! Mercury.

the vital spark but feebly burns.
Physicians will find it to De a most powerful
