1 am thinking of thro, my cou-in,
At thi h t.-, r oil find quiet homo.
Where all the scent'* ul life and pleasure.
Is tut an at thy own.
Mi thlnk* I hear thy Inr-cful voice,
Oi all its gentle pealing;
Those words t ro.r.h ami bun rejoicing.
Ye!, evil’ atone J me seeming.
Are; thy majestic gait, and cln.'itc step;
The glow and the beauty of all thy words,
Yet eomesin tint soft, sweet whispering,
My inmost spirit thrill.
Oh! couid some pleasing prospect bring,
Some welcome seems or hue,
To brighten up my wonted sjiiiits.
And gild them there like yours.
Yet, I could not wish more spirited bliss,
Within my heart's rutrieiing,
Than have a spit it so mei k resplend.int,
As that at times thy happy feelings.
Then please accept my fond regard,
These tender lines have proven,
That si ti-e of hope, with bright and lovo.
Each clicii.-heU thought have given.

The Wish.
Could wlshe* bring you happiness,
II y hopes tnd wishes would nut tease;
Your life should be a ho re of bins,
Your days should pass uud end in peace,
l’de wish a partner all the while,
To share with you in each success;
IV.• wi..h heaven's it) proving'smile,
Which saaiV approving can’t but bless.
I’de wih religion for your filend,
Lore iif.il devotion vour employ,
And when your lengthened duy* shall end,
File wish you lit,lien to crown } our joy*.

How very dark and drear the ni. ht.
With no moon, no stars’ trembling light,
How gloomy that November’s da,,
‘Vlieti c In in Is oils cure the sun’s hi ig lit ray ;
Thus dark and drear will my n ul b\
Wit hoot thy love, thy siviii for me,—-
Tliouiirt my soul's star, for it shine,
Thou my sun, beautiful and uii ine.
How stt)l and lonely that dwelling,
Where none are seen, none are living.
No sounds beard, no voice rendstlm air;

Laughter.— Laugrter very often i
slows tlm bright side of a man. It
brings out his happier nature, nml
shows of wlmt sort of stuiT ho is roully
made. Somehow we feel as it w e nev
er thoroughly know a man until we j
hear him lough'. The solemn, s her

nothing of tire rial man. lie mny
he very silly or very profound; very
cross or very jolly. Let us hear him i
laugh, and w o can dcciphf r him out at j
once, and tell how his heart beats.;
Carlyle says, “that no man who has
once heartilv laughed can be (litogi-thei
and irrecluimably b.vl.” Much lies
in a laugh, the eypher.kry, wherewith
we decipher the whole matt! Some |
men bear an i verlasting barren simpr r;
in the smiles of others lio a cold glitter
ns of ice.—The fewest, are unable to
laugh but only snifli r and tiib r, and j
snigger ftom tlio threat outwards, or,
at best, produce some whiffling*, hiisken j
cacijioittion, ns if they wore laughing
through wood; of none such oome-t

only “lit for treason, stragems ami |

treason and strntagt m.

DR. AV. W. M ARSHALL;—Dear Sir—
The great relief l have recently received at
your hands, induces me to offer my testimony
to 1 our successful treatment of Cancerous affec
! linn?.
Some ten years ago, a small lump,’sotne
| thing like a wart, made its appearance in the
centre of my lower iip, giving me at first no in
convenience or pain. After several years it
began to grow. 1 then applied to a physician
who cut it offbelow the surface of the lip and
1 burnt it with caustic, and 1 thought, c-.rred it.
! Ina short time afterwards, it reappeared and
grew more rapidly than before; affecting with
in the lost six months, the glandsof the neck,
; and giving me occasionally considerable pain.
1 My physicians gave it as their opinion that it
waseancerous and that nothing could relieve
| me but the knife.
In this situation I put myself under your
j treatment, on the 10th September last, and to
1 day, I think I may safely say, that I am well
I trust that you will longji ve to afford relief to
the afflicted nud distressed. With my warmest
thanks, for lour kind anj constant attention
during my stay with you,
I am respectfully, yours,

That it might be more particularly adapted
