Was it i’rovidei co.
Take, fit example, a young girl, bred
delicately in town, shut up in a nurse
ry iu her child hood, in a hoarding
aohool through Iter youth, never accus
tomed to air, ami exorcise two things
that the law ol (jiod makes i s-nmtial to
health. She marries; her strength is
iaadequulo to the demand upon it. Ih r
beauty fudos early. ‘Wlist a strange
providence that u mother should he to
jrr, iii the midst of life from her chil
dren?’ Was it Providcnco? Mo!
Providence has assigned her three sc no
and ter. years, a term long enough to
rear her children; mid to sen her chil
dren's children; but she did not obey .
the laws on winch life depends, and ol ;
Course lost it.
A fullier, too, is cut oil’in iho midst
of Ins days. 110 is a useful and dis
tinguished citizen, and emimnl iu his
profession. A general buzz rives on
every side, ol ‘W hut a sinking provi
dence!’ Thisnitt’i has been in tin
habit of study mg half the night, of piss
ing his days in liisollioe and the courts,
of eating luxuiious ilium is, and of
drinking vai ions w iocs. 1 1 ■ nas i \ cry
day violated the law on which health
depends. Hid providence cut him oil'?
This evil rarely ends here. The dis
eases of the laliier arc oln n trunsniittcd;
and a feeble mother rarely leaves be
hind her vigorous children.
It lias been customary iu some of
our cities lor young Indies to walk iii
thin shoes and dclicale stockings in
mid-winter. A healthy, blooming girl
who thus dresses, in violation of lleuv
•n’s laws, pays the penalty—a check
ed circulation, cold, fever, and death.
‘Whit a sad Providence!’ exclaimed
her friends. Was it Providence, or
her own useless uini stnl lolly I
A beautiful bride gous, night after

but she must wear Iter neek and arms

and the grave receives her before her
bridal days are over; ‘What u I’rovi

Did she not cut thu llircud oflite her

A girl iu tiie country exposed to our
changeful climate, gets anew bonnet
instead ol getting a llanm l garment.
A rheumatism is the consequence.
Should tiie girl sit iliwvm tranquilly
with the idea that Providence has sent
rheumatism upon her, or should slie 1
ohurgeit to her own vanity, and avoid ,
the folly in future/ Look, my young |
friends, at the mass of diseases that hi**
incurred by iutempera: co in eating,
drinking, in study or business; by neg- i
loot of exercise, cleanliness, and pure
air; by indiscreet dressing, tight lacing,
<sec., and all is quietly imputed to
Providence! Is there not impiety as
well as ignorance in this? Were tin*!
physical laws strictly observed from
gfliitration to generation, there would
bo an end of the frightful diseases that
eu’. life short, and a long list that make
iile a torment or a trial. It is the opin
ion of those who best understand the
physical system, that tins wonderful
machine, the bnly, ‘goodly temple,
would gradually decay , and men woul l
dio as if falling asleep.’

time in the month of June last, I found
• myself hmoiing under n painful malady, whicri
eventually resulted in Fistula; my suffering
; for weeks was so great 99 to incapacitate me
tor active business or even tor walking about
with facility. In this situation I resolved to
submit myself to your professional skill, of
which 1 heaid iwuch, in sucli cases as
Cancer and fistula, and I am happy to say
that 1 was not disappointed except agreeably ,
at the very short period required to effect tri
cure, under your judicious practice. To rny
great gratification i was so far relieved of the
distressing complaint, in about two weeks
from the time you commenced your course of
treatment as to he able to Lave my couch and
enjoy society At this stage of the case, 1 was.
attacked with Billious Fever, which required
necessarily apercienr. medicim * to remove, and
which retarded the tinalcure of fistula. Not
! withstanding however, this set back, I was in
a very shoit period restored, by jourskilLto
my wonted state ot health, which all my ae
qunntanccs know has been uniformly sound
i and good for yeais.
From the fact, also, that I have, for several
i months oven totally free from ever vestage of
the complaint lam induced to believe, that
the cure is a ladical and permanent one. f
would therefoie most cordially rocommend
all who may be similarly afllicted, to avtil
themselves of your invaluable services and be
healed. I would add, that your mode of the
treatment of the dneape, is far le*s painful than
ihc disease itself, and that the patient
should not hesitate, through fear of pain, to.
pine hinis‘ll under four care. With grateful
sense of benefit received at your hands and th*

useful ministration in their behalf,
