Being a citizen of ‘V aynasboro’, nnd be!ic\ ng that
,a justice has been done (Wtne. of its citizens by your
rorresjiondent, I pro[>ose to give you the facts of this
promise on the part of the proprietor* of the bor

-V,d no liquor whilst Mr. Overby was here, on the
lav lie spoke- the proprietor kept his promise with
ibe Temperance party. The proprietors of the other
unde no promise to refrain from selling liquor on
that dav, hut on the contrary, expressly refused so
j.-, ,p, when called on by .an active leader of the Tem
perance party in Burke. Your correspondent, in
tiis article of the loth inst , relieves Messrs. Sturges
& Owen from any od'um that might have attached
(„ them on account of the first article in your paper,
t 'tis true, in a manner that makes the apology worse]
than the offence) hut at least inferentinlly seeks to
held up the proprietors of the other establishment to
the public, as devoid of fuithlulness and integrity. -
Now, 1 ask, if such charges, unfounded as they are,
in fact, are calculated to advance the cause of torn
jierance or morality? Do they not rather tend to j
exasperate parties and individuals, and so prevent]
them from giving their countenance to a movement]
highly moral in its character?
I make this communication from a sense of justic. !
to the parties so unjustly charged with a breach of]
faith: and believing that it is morally wrong to make I
any misrepresentations even in polities. 1 hope, for ]
ihe cause of Umiperante and truth, you will insert j
this commufiieation in your paper.

JjpfThe Boston Post is assured by a gentleman
who actually witnessed the astounding fact, that a

cause the demented wearer to be instantly tabooed.

The fever is abating in both Norfolk and Ports
