Y e-'etday iiftr rnmm iu-r nu e and partly dec imposed hotly was found in Flynt river by John Rivers am! Zed Moore, t.vu white men who were fish ing. The men were dragging lor a fish basket and were horrified when they pulled up the dead body of a woman instead of a basket. Terribly shocked and unstrung, the two men deserted their boat and fled to Woolsey to tell the news. They re turned shortly with a number of re presentative people, and efforts to extricate the body was renewed. After vigorous work for an hour and a half removing obstacles that ap peared to prevent the floating of the corpse, it was brought to the surface. The face and limbs were swollen Les yond all natural dimensions, and a large wound in the right temple show ed the girl had been murdered—the weapon used being a pistol. To pre vent the body from rising, 31 plow hoes and three axes had been tied about the dead girl’s neck before her lifeless form was consigned to the muddy waters of Flynt river. The body was identified as that oi Miss Pearl Knott, and an investigation into the murder was begun at once. A dispatch from Fayetteville to the Cai l this afternoon stated that G. W. Ktrlin was accused of having commit ted the crime and had been arrested. Rumors of a lynching were being cir culated, and to prevent their being carried out, Kerlin was sent to Atlanta this afternoon for safe keeping. The murdered girl ha* relatives living near thia city, and was con nected with some of the most promi nent people of Middle Georgia.
