Peafness Cannot be Cured
by local applications as they cannot reach
the diseased portion of the ear. There is
only one -way to cure deafness, and that is
by constitutional remedies. Deafness is
caused by an inflamed condition of the
mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube.
When this tube is inflamed you have a
rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and
when it is entirely closed, deafness is
the result, and unless the inflammation
can be taken out and this tube restored to
its normal condition, hearing will be de
stroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are
caused by Catarrh, which is nothing but
an inflamed condition of the mucous sur
faces.
We will give One Hundred Dollars for
any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh)
that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh
Cure. Send for circulars; free,

the following directions will keep
them quite in check.
Poison the vines, using Paris green;
either as a powder, ®r in waler. In
the former case, thoroughly mix Paris
green with cheap flour, at the rate of
one pound of the “green” to twenty
pounds of fl ,ur Dust the mixture
thoroughly over the vines, using a
rather course linen bag, on the end of
a short stick, or by means of a powder
bellows. The poison will stick better
if sprinkled ou while the plants are
wet with dew ; or, previous to the ap
plication of the poison, sprinkle the
plants with an ordinary garden sprink
ler.
If a spray pump is at hand,it will be
preferable to apply the poison, mixed
with water, as a spray, using Paris
green at the rale of one ounce to each
five gallons of wa’rr. To this, add a
quart of milk of lime, which will make
the mixture more adhesive, and also
destroy any burning effect cf poison
on the foliage. Keep the mixture well
stirred, and spray thoroughly.
There is, of course, absolutely no
danger of poisoning the potatoes un
derground, by spraying poison on the
vines. It will doubtless bo necessary
to make another spraying or dusting
about ten days from the first, as those
insects in the egg stage, during the
first application, will not be poisoned ;
but they will have batched by the time
the second application is made, and
the larvre readily killed.
Paris green is a deadly poison, and
should be carefully labelled and kept
so that no harm may result to those
tmacqu tinted with it- poisonous ns*
ture.

The other day a man spoke in my
presence about a certain real or fancied
peculiarity of some animals v.-fimh, he
said, caused the eye to dilate when the
animal was subject to sudden fright,
thus transforming the pupil of the eye
into a magnifying glass of high power
“Why,” he -aid, “if a wildcat fright

wildcat looks to him as big as a tiger.”
I have quit saying I don’t believe
a thing just because I never heard of
it before, but, now, what do yon

HOW TO FIND GUT.
Fill a bottle or common glass with your
water and let it stand twenty-four hours ;
n sediment or settling indicates an unheal
thy condition of the kidneys; if it stains
your linen it is evidence of kidney trouble;
too frequent desire to pass it or pain in the
back is also convincing proof that the kid
neys .nd bladder are out of order.
What to Do.
There is comfort in the knowledge so of
ten expressed, that Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp-
Root, the great kidney remedy, fulfills ev
ery wish in euriag rheumatism, pain in
the back, kidneys, liver, bladder and every
part of the urinary passages. It corrects
inability to hold water and scalding pain
in passing it, or bad effects following use
of liquor, wine or beer, and overcomes that
unpleasant necessity of being compelled
to go often during the day, and to get up
many times during the night. The mild
and the extraordinary effect of Swamp-
Root is soon realized. It stands the high
est for its wonderful cures of the most dis
tressing cases. If you need a medicine you
should have the best. At druggists fifty
cents or one dollar.
You may have a sample bottle and a
book that tells more about it, both sent
absolutely free by mail, if you send your
address to Dr. Kilmer & Co., Bingham
