Found Dead in Bed Alex Childs, a weU known negro of this city, was found dead in his home on Newton’s row this morning. He had been dead several hours when found, and decomposition had set in, An empty whiskey bottle was found on a table near bis bed. which explains death There were no marks of vio lence on bis person, and no inquest was held over the remains. Deafness Cannot be Cured by local applications as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed, deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be de stroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous sur faces. We will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh Cure. Send for circular’s; free. F. J. CHENEY A CO., Toledo, O. Joe Wheeler’s expansion speech was iu bad taste for an occasion like the Confederate reunion. We say thia as one who deprecated the propo sal to invite the leader on the other side, William Jennings Bryan, to speak at the reunion. These gather ing# are sacred to ibe memories of the Lost Cause and no issue of present politics should be discussed at them. Gen. Wheeler has won his glory in the Spanish war and should rest on his laurels. They will be tarnished if he makes himself spokesman for McKin ley and apologist for a war of conquest. The little genera! has an unfortunate tendency to “slop over" and it is time that be put the lid on himself in this Philippine business ” - MONDAY NIGHT, MAY 15, HON, JOS. G. Fill a bottle or common glass with your water and let it stand twenty-four hours ; a se iiment or sdtling indicates an unheal thy condition of the kidneys ; if it stains your linen it is evidence of kidney trouble; too frequent desire to pass it or pain in the back is also convincing proof that the kid neys and bladder are out of order. What to Do. There is comfort in the knowledge goof- I ten expressed, that Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp- Root, the great kidney remedy, fulfills ev ery wish in curing rheumatism, pain in the back, kidneys, liver, bladder and every part of the urinary passages. It corrects inability to hold water and scalding pain in passing it, or bad effects following use of liquor, wine or beer, and overcomes that unpleasant necessity of being compelled to go often during the day, and to get up many times during the night. The mild and the extraordinary effect of bwamp j Root is soon realized. It stands the high ! est for its wonderful cures of the most dis- I tressing cases. If you need a medicine you should have the best. At druggists fifty cents or one dollar. You may have a sample bottle and a book that tells more about it, both sent absolutely free by mail, if you send your address to Dr. Kilmer & Co., Bingham i ton, N. Y.
