The farmers here have plenty of grass, and need a shower to soften the ground, Deafness Cannot be Cured by local applications as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is t by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed, deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be de stroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous sur faces. We will give One Hundred Dollars for any case of Deafness (caused by catarrh) that cannot be cured by Hall’s Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars; free. F. J. CHENEY & CO., Toledo, O. The Georgia Lynching- Whatever any Northern reader may feel about tbe~burning of the negro Sam Hose and the lynching of tbo negro preacher Strickland, in Georgia, one thing he should always bear in mind, that there is no vital difference between the white man in the South and the white man in the North, and that what white men do in Georgia white men from New York, or Massa chusetts, or Minnesota would probably do in Georgia under similar circum stances A county in Georgia went stark crazy over Sam Hose. Northern readers cannot understand it. A letter has come to the Weekly from a Geor gia woman which tells a story of Sam I Hose’s crime as Georgi i understands | it. It i,- hardly a letter that the Week- I iy may print, but it may be believed, 1 and it helps to an understanding of ■ what has happened No man who be- I lieveJ what this woman believes and ; has written about Hose and Strickland and negroes of their class in the south i would not lie surprised at anything I that might follow such a crime ag Hose committed. It may be that nothing can justify such an orgy as was held over Hose, but there is plm ty that can f xplain it. The men and wi men of the South believe that certain unruly negroes can < nly be r<-trained from horrible erimis against white w-nnen by swift and terriL'e puiiishm nt We of the north have little experience of these crimes but our blood circulates, and we know what sort of disposition such crimes arouse To read the story of Sam 11. ~c'- ciime as our Georgia cor respondent has written it, begets abso lute indifference to that negro’s suffer ings or fate. It fills the n.iud with horror, and makes one feel that any means that is effectual to prevent such crimes is justified, One forgets tbe monstrousness of the Sam Hose lynch ing, and only wonders whether it was expedient—E S Martin, in Harper’s Wet kly. Discovered by a Woman. * Another great discovery Las been I made, and that too. by a lady in thia | country. “Disease fastened its clutch • es upon her ami for seven years she withstood its severest tests, but her vital organs were undermined and death seemed imminent For three months she coughed incessantly, and could not sleep. She finally discovered away to recovery, by purchasing of us a bottle of Dr. King’s New Discov ery for Consumption ami was so much relieved <-n taking the fir--' ,!•>«(., that she slept all night ; and with two bot tles, has been absolutely cured Her name is Mrs. Luther Lutz”.
