The Kind You Have Always Bought
Another View of the Race Question-
The Baltimore Sun thus tersely
states the case: ‘The negroes were
invested with the right to vote in or
der that they might strengthen the
republican party and enable it to con
tinue its bold upon both houses of
' Congress They were welded into a
compact body by the sinister teach
ings of white men, in most cases tin*
principled northern adventurers, who
made them belive that the southern
white man was their sworn enemy
and would do them all manner of
harm if he was in power in the south.
By playing upon the fears of the ne
groes and also by promises of ‘forty
acres and a mule,’ the black* were
solidified against the southern whites,
and opposed them politically at every
point and upon every issue—and this
opposition has continued to the pres
ent time.”
When Nature
Needs assistance it may be best to render
it promptly, but one should remember to
use even the most perfect remedies only
when needed. The best and most simple
and gentle remedy is the Syrup of Figs,
manufactured by the California Fig Syrup
Co.

LINE CREEK LOCALS-
Lime Cheek, Ga., May 23, 1899.
I went to a picnic Saturday,
And had a “big old time’’
Eating chicken and other things, I
Which were very fine. i
I went “up and down” the table, .
Eating all I could, as long as I wat able ;
I ate so much 1 couldn’t walk,
And some said 1 “swallowed a fork ’’ .
I got me a box and 1 sat down i
And I bet I»h ■ r twenty pour.M-
An 1 'bum i .tn- ii< "iV' with apple pie, (
I ate s< > much 1 tnfrtight I’d die! i
And before I could recover, so I again j
could eat, 1
Along come another fellow with “that .
Digby beef.’’ |
I commenced getting hungry, and took a ’
little piece—
And, after eating all of that, which was j
“out of sight,” j
I called him back and got some more, "
And told him “times were tight 1 ”
We attended the annual picnic at Digby ’
Saturday, w’hich was the most enjoyable
one we have attended in years. The din
ner was bountiful, and we are due the la
lies of this ( mmunity many thanks for
the dainty and tempting repast, which
was much enjoyed by all. We were en
tertained in the afternoon by an excellent
address by Prof. Walter Scott, of llollon
ville, subject,“Our Sunny South Land.”
Mr. Scott is a splendid orator, and bandied
his subject well. Lemonade was also plen
tiful, and everybody went home feeling
better and happier for having attended
this grand picnic.
Marsh Johnson, the champion “honey
eater,” was at the picnic with a smile on
his face “as long as your arm.” We think (
he is still the “champion of the vrorld,”
when it comes to eatin’ honey.
We have had several nice rains, which
are appreciated by all.
We think the tarmers ought to sow fall
oats, instead of spring, and then, if they
don’t have time to mature, the land can be
put in something else.
W. M. and C. T. Digby have the finest
corn we have seen.
J. C. Swann and wife and Mrs. Susan i
Long visited relatives at Starr's Mill Sun
day.
Arthur Mathews, of Woolsey, spent!
Sunday with C. E. Coppedge.
Geo. Gerrick, of Haralson, was here last
Sunday.
C. E. Coppedge went to Griffin Monday.
Arthur Digby will in the inture be with
his father in the mercantile business.
Emmett Scott, of Hollonville, attended
the picnic here Saturday.
Ellis Maynard visited relatives at Tyson
Sunday.
John Woods,of Brooks Station, was
here Monday.
Miss Sallie Coppedge, one of our charm
ing young ladies, is visiting relatives at
Haralson this week.
E. P. Shannon went to Williamson last
Thursday.
Capt. J. A. J. Tidwell has returned
home, to the delight of his many friends,
after six weeks’ visit to Texas. He visited
the homes of many former Georgians, and
was the recipient of many courtesies. He
was delighted with his trip, and says the
“crops here look like starvation” by the
side of those in Texas. He said he saw
corn in the silk, as high as a man's head,!
and cotton nearly knee high.
Mr. Ed. and correspondents : If you I
hear of another picnic before we do, please •
let us know, as I am all “O. K.” now, and i
ready for the next.
Success to the Call, and may it always |
. be an up-to-date paper, as it is today.

The kidneys are responsible for more !

A majority of the ills afflicting people
today is traceable to kidney trouble. It

Uric acid, or brick-dust deposit in urine

the heart acts badly, and tube casts (wast
ing of the kidneys) are found in the urine,
which if neglected will result it) Bright’s
