The woman who is lovely in face, form
and temper will always have friends, but
one who would be attractive must keep
her health. If she is weak, sickly and all
run down, she will be nervous and irrita

trouble, her impure blood will cause pim

best medicine in the world to regulate the
stomach, liver and kidneys, and to purify
the blood. It gives strong nerves, bright

The blind boy raised a rapt face to
the light.
“And my mother .'' ho said qnes
tioningly. “Tell me how- she looks
again. I shall soon be aide to see, and I
know 1 shall find one more beautiful
than all the rest and cry mother! moth
er! Why do you not apeak?”
His sensitive f-ice was turned re
proachfully town: i his father. “You
have always told lue how lovely she is.
She is little—not taller than my shoul
der— I know that.”
The old man laid his arm over the
lad's shoulders.
“You must know now what your
blindness would have kept you from
knowing,” ho said. “Your mother is
not fair and beautiful now in face, but
her soul is what God made for a
mother. When you can see, look for
the face which holds the greatest love.
You will not be mistaken. It will be
your mother’s.”
The great surgeon looked for a mo
ment or two into the sightless eyes, and
then turned and laid his hand on the
father’s trembling arm.
“Only God can make him see, my
friend,” he said kindly. “Your boy
was born blind, and human skill can
not help him. ”
The blind boy was the first to speak,
and he laid his arm around tho sudden
ly aged form of his father.
“Come," he said, “let us go back to
mother.. She will always be beautiful to
me now.” and they turned and gave
place to the others. -New York World.

Whal a Boer Will Eat.
The Transvaal Boer will eat almost
anything in the flesh, fish or fowl line,
for all is grist that comes to his gastro
nomic mill, and the following mixture
is voted most delectable by the majority
of the rougher classes: A great square
slice is cut off a loaf made of coarse un
sifted meal and covered with a thick
layer of jam, preferably strawberry. A
row of sardines is then placed on top.
and the oil from the sardine box is lib
erally poured over tho whole. A loud
smacking of lips and other manifesta
tions of thorough appreciation accom
pany the disposal of this delicate bonne
bonche. But the unsophisticated Boer
only indulges in this luxury when he
means to < njoy a special treat, quite re
gardless of expense. -Chambers’ Jour

The beautiful girl had parted forever

with her upon such occasions.
They tried to comfort her.
“There are always good fish left in

“Yes, but. when you catch tln-m they
turn out to be lobsters ”’ she exclaimed
bitterly, thereby showing that after all

The Woman Who Did*
In Bow road. London, east, one Satu>
day evening, two men. tho worse fordrink,
were fighting like demons. They were
surrounded by an excited and yelling
crowd, not one of whom attempt I to in
terfere, and, as usual, there were noy-’ico
to be seen.
An old lady, carrying a cross handle
market basket, came upon the scene, at
which time the combatants were on the
ground, kicking and punching each other
in a most savage manner. The old lady
paused only long enough to take in the sit
uation. Then she went to work and be
labored tho two men about their heads and
bodies with her basket.
This unexpected and energetic attack to
surprised the fighters that, suspending
hostilities, they sat up and stared at their
assailant in mute astonishment.
Then tho ridiculousness of the thing
seemed to strike them. They burst into
hearty laughter, and, getting up, took their
coats and went away, apparently quite
friendly, while the old lady retired tri
umphantly amid tho cheers of the crowd.

REGARDLESS OF AGE
’ The kiduevs are responsible for more
‘ sickness, sutl'ering, and deaths than any
oth r organs of the body.
’ A majority of the ills afflicting people
today is traceable to kidney trouble. It
pervades all classes of society, in all cli
mates, regardless of age, sex or condition.
The symptoms of kidney trouble are un
mistakable, such as rheumatism, neuralgia
steeples ■nth?, pain or dull ache in the back
a desire to urinate often day or night, pro
fuse or scanty supply.
Uric acid, or brick-dust deposit in urine
are signs of clogged kidneys, causing pois
oned an 1 germ-filled blood. Sometimes
theheart acts badly, and tube casts (wast
ing of the kidneys) are found in the urine,
which if neglected will result irj Bright’s
Disease, the most dangerous form of “kid
ney trouble.
All these symptoms and conditions are
promptly removed under the influence of
Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp-Root. It has a world
wide reputation for its wonderful cures of
the most distressing cases.
No one need be long without it as it is
j so easy to get at any drug store at fifty
I cents or one dollar. You can have asam

it, both sent to you absolutely free by mail
Send your address to Dr. Kilmer & Co.,
