When the gamblers saw the officers
they ran, but two were captured, and

The two captured were Rich Nichols

The officers are confident they will
soon capture the others of this crowd.

FARMERS MEET.
Dire, tors far Their Warehouses Were
Elected This Morning.
rl l.'igi number of planters of thia
couniy met in th-> court house this
morning tor Hie purpose of electing a
board of dir. ctors for the Farmers
Warehouses.
Prof J. O, A M ilh r was made ch sir
mi ri of lie <n< ■ting an I tsil D < I less
ncr and S B Sawlel! were requested
to act as secretaries.
After the chairman bad stated the
object of the meeting, B N Barrow
made a short but sensible address
which was listened to attentively.
Mr. Bar row stated that he had been
I mixed up with the Farmets Cc-upera
live warehouses ever since their organ
iz ition about eleven years ago. He
had but little to do with them for the
past two or three years because be did
not aporove of the methods upon
i which they were run. When the
warehouses were properly conducted
they were a blessing to the fat-mere of
Spalding and adjoining counties, be
cause they obtained the highest mar
| ket price for all cotton brought to this
city. These warehouses, under one
! manager, weighed over 10,000 bales of
\ cotton one season and virtually con
trolled this market. Small warehouses
could not keep up the prices, but if
the right man was made manager of
the warehouses and he received the
I patronage of all the planters of Spald
ing county he could force the buyers
to pay the highest market price fur
' cotton, That was the object of the
I Farmers warehouse. It bad served
its purpose well at one time, and there
was no reason why it should not do
so again.
H. T. Patterson moved that one
man from each militia district of
Spalding county be elected a member
tbs board of director? who would
formulate rules governing the ware
house. The motion prevailed and a
recess of five minutes was given for
the delegates of each district to select
a director.
When the chair called the meeting
to order the following gentlemen were
selected as directors of the Farmers’
warehouse:
Griffin District-J. W, Wolcott, Jno.
I F. Dickinson, alternate.
Africa district—ll. T. Patterson.
Cabins district— C. W, Henderson.
; Akins district—W. E. Caldwell.
Nit. Zion district—W. B. Crowder.
Line Creek district—Starky Hand.
Union district--A. O. Gay, C. M. Ham-;
' mond, alternate,
Qrrs district—AV. E. 11. Searcy, Sr.
The question as to whether directors I
fiom adjoining counties should be
| placed on the board or not, brought
'about lengthy discussions from a num-
I ber, and as a compromise Pike and
! Butts counties were given a represen
' tation on the board Z T. Scott was
; elected from Pike and J. C. Bell will
represent But is
The directors prepared the following
i report which Was read :
Resolved, After discussing the mat
■ ter of having one or two warehouses,
i we have decided that while one wares
house might be adequate for the busi
ness, we believe it to be to our interests
to run two houses at this time under
one management. We submit this
matter to the meeting for its decision
that all may have a voice in deter
mining the question.
Reso’ved, That tin directors will j
meet at a later day t.i elect a manager
and scalesmen, when all can be present
if it is the desire of the meeting not to
elect these officers itself today.
The directors were given authority
to run the warehouses in such a man
ner as they think best, and to elect a
manager and scalesman.
H. T. Patterson, chairman, called
the board to meet again next Saturday
and name these officers
A majority of the board from this
county will constitute a quorum at
meetings of the directors, and no
proxies will be allowed a vote in elect
ing manager and scalesmeu.

REGARDLESS OF AGE
Tim kidae.s are responsible for more
sickness, suffering, and deaths than any
oth r organs of the body.
A majority of the ills afflicting people
today is traceable to kidney trouble. It
pervades all classes of society, in all cli
mates, regardless of age, sex or condition.
The symptoms of kidney trouble are un
mistakable, such as rheumatism,neuralgia
sleeplessness, pain or dull ache in the back
a desire to urinate often day or night, pro
fuse or scanty supply.
Uric acid, or brick-dust deposit in urine
are signs of clogged kidney- , causing pois
oned an i germ-filled blood. Sometimes
the heart ac s badly, and tube casts (wast
ing of the kidneys) are found in the urine,
which if neglected will result in Bright’s
Disease, the most dangerous form of kid
ney trouble.
