Stock. 1 litre was a full meeting of the council last night, as it was under stood that an effort would be undo to upset the work of the last meeting in several important respects. The effort, however, proved as feeble as it v>kiB futile. I be minutes <>f previous meeting were read and i f nas moved by Alder man George and seconded by Alder man Word that lboy be confirmed as read Aid. Boy.t moved to. amend so that, the Mayor’s salary should be $200 instead of $400, the whiskey license $250 instead of $200, and that the price of city printing bo reduced The motion was seconded by Aid. Burr. Aid. Patrick stated that only one bid had been made, though both pa pers had been notified, and he failed to see how the council could have act ed otherwise in the matter. Aid, Boyd then withdrew his objection to the News having the city printing, which was very sweet of him. Aid. Hudson did not see how the council could get around confirming the minutes as read, as there was no allegation of incorrectness. Aid Patrick stated that while he was not altogether in favor of the li cense ordinance as adopted, yet no motion for reconsideration had been made at last meeting. The motion to confirm the minutes as read was carried on a rising vote, Aldermen Hudson, Patrick, Newton, Word and George voting for it. The other side was not called. The following petition was read: Griffin, Ga , JaD. 9, 1888. To the Hon. Common Conned of the City of Griffin: The undersigned respectfully ask that permission be granted them to erect on their lot, southwest corner of Twelfth and Broadway streets, a frame structure to be used with ac coinpanyiDg apparatus for tho preser¬ vation of fruits, vegtables, etc., by evaporation and canning. Patrick thought some action ought to be taken on the city’s stock in the S. G. & N. A. Ry., whereupon Aid.
