violations of Internal Revenue Laws

say that we are assuming in some de
gree city ways. On last Saturday
the following gentlemen were elect
ed as councilman: J. R. Jenkins,
N„B. Walker, T. L. McLendon, W.
E, Loyd and J. A. Williams. Iu a
few days a mayor and marshal will
be named, when business will begin
in good stylo.
The farmers having gone to work,
the town is dull.
Jasper McLendon and family left
yesterday for Texas.
As this town is getting to be a
place of noioiiety, your correspond
ent will let you hear from it oftener.

The Bank Inspector.
C. J. Campbell, bank inspector,
was in the city yesterday, inspect
ing the allairs ol the City National
Bank. The following lines were
found on the cashier’s desk after
closing hours last night:
The inspector came down like a wolf on the
fold;
He counted the hank notes and conn’d over
the gold,
And the glance of his eje was like light that

At his look the bookkeeper fell fainting with
