The Central up train yesterday mar’ niug was nu hour late, caused by a wreck on tho Savannah division, and making the down train fifteen minutes late. Judge Jas. S. Boynton returned from tho session of Upson Superior Court yesterday evening and stated that tho business of the term was mostly com pleied in good shape. There is something quite consoling in tho thought that over the evergieen shore one will not encounter the roam ing minstrel, the book agent, the .iusur unco agent, or the hand organ grinder. Itev. C. Dowe returned lost night from a three weexs visit to his relatives iu New Orleans, and reports a good time and his people all well. He is looking well and we may look for the old time effective services tomorrow. Tho latest railroad tumor is to the effect that the East Tennessee system has bought out the Central system. The rumor probably originated in the J fact that the Central has lately been running on East Tennessee time- that is, on no particular time at all. There will be a total eclipse of the rnoou to night. If the cveniug is clear the spectacle will be an interesting one. Tho Baptist reunion on Thursday night was a most enjoyable affair, with music and the most pleasant social fea hires. In spite of the other entertain meats goiug on, it was largely attended and such was its success that it will be made a frequent feature bereaf er. The intention now is to floor the basement— costing only about $75—and holding many entertainments there that could not well be held iu tho audience room.
