We the Grand Jury drawn and sworn for the February Term of Spalding County Superior Court, make the fol¬ lowing report. Through tho usual com¬ mittees, we have examined the hooka and papers of tho following County Officers; COUNTY TREASURER. We find his hooks neatly and cor¬ rectly kept. His report to the County Commissioners, dated Jan. 12, 1888, shows that he received from J. L. The committee makes a most favor¬ able report upon this officer. They say we have examined the following books and vouchers: Minute Book> Will Book, Annual Returns, Appraise¬ ment Book, Guardians’ Bonds, Admin¬ istrators’ Bonds, years support, Letters of Guardianship, Letters Testamen¬ tary, Letters of Administration, Tem- p orar y Letters, Homesteads, Official Bonds, Marriage Records and Files in Office. We find the above bosks all correctly and very neatly kept. We also find the proper vouchers all re- eerded upon the proper boak*. We vouchen ' »• of the office kept separate, labeled and indexed, which is a great convenience to the county. Committee reports as follows on ibe Sheriff of the ceunty : We find his books and papers prop¬ erly and correctly kept. All entries properly made. We congratulate the citizen* of the county upsn having a gaod and capable Sheriff'. JUSTICES OF THE PEACE AND NOTARIES PUBLIC. We find the deckets of these officers properly and correctly kept. COUNTY FARM. The paupers arc well fed, clothe 1 and attended. There arc fourteen «f them properly registerdd—five whites and ni»e colored; two white hoys, three white women, five negro men and font negro women. Al' well sat¬ isfied. There arc three hired 1 antis on the i farm, besides the overseer. i l'rop.-tty on tho farm : One at $8 per month and hoard. One at $10 per month and board. One at $450 per month and board. (Cook and nurse.) Oversee; » wages $250 per annum. Two mules, in geod condition. One 2-horse wagon and harness. Seven head cattle, of which two are milch cow*. Two head hogs. ! One sulky plow. One Acme harrow. One set black smith tool*, with port¬ able forge, 1 vice, 1 anvil, with tongs, hammers, etc. Value about $35. One grind stone. One cotton planter. Two single nad one double plow stocks. Blow hoes enough te run the farm ! until after planting time, i Weeding hoes, spades, rakes, etc., sufficient for a two-horse farm. Abeut 175 bushels of corn. About 1,000 lbs. old and 2,400 lbs. new fodder. 300 htuhel* cotton seed. 10 biuhel* peas, 1 barrel syrup, (40 gallons) stalks ribbon cane, 20 bushel* potatoes. GROWING CROP AND ORCHARD Nine and one-half acres in wheat fine condition, in fact the West wheat we have seen in the county About 400 fruit trees, old and young PROSPECTIVE CROP. The overseer informs us that lie instructed to plant the following crop tit is spring 20 acres in corn 40 acres in cotton. 4,000 stalks sugar cane—all seed hand. * This, together with garden, potatees, etc., will make s total abeut 63 acres. The cabins for paupers, barn?, bles, etc., are iu good condition. The dwelling house of the needs repairing very much and once. The sills supporting it on north and east sides are rotted and should be replaced with new without delay, t^uite a number of pillars supporting the house need pairs. Most of the windows need new or the repairing of the old ones. A great many glass are broken out of windows, and in fact the building old and delapidated, aud needs a eral renovation, and we suggest that be repaired as early as practicable.
