The Naws has been advising its readers to do the same thing for the past fix years. We would be glad to see a large crop of corn planted every year. Our contemporary is probably wasting its plumbago in showing the council the feasibility of water pipes run from the ice factory- The more it urges it, the more council will not do anj thing; for what do newspapers know about such things, as com pared with the wisdom of an alderman? A cotton man said yesterday that Griffin had been losing a thousand dollars a day for the last twenty-five days on cottoa futures, and still the tendency is downward. Most of this is profits that have shrunk up, bnt unless there is speedy rise it will begin to eat into capital. But everybody in this section who can will hold on two months longer for a rise. Charlie Foster caught a black burglar in his back yard on Tuesday night, aboot eight o’clock, who was probably stealing wood. He got him by the eollar and yanked him toward tne light, but the thief got away. His gun was loaned out, or there might have been a coroner’s inquest this morning. A little less water, Cousin deems, if it is Lent.”—[G ritfiN News. Well, the Btur is no “dry” paper, any way you take it, and never was; but, we cannot be responsible for what happens to it between Atlanta and Grif fin as they are just too awfuiiy wet for any thing. We can assure our esteemed con temporary, how over, that we start it out on its mission of love and peace in decorous and sober trim .—[Covington Star Easter falls on the 1st of April. The earliest possible day for Easter is on the -2d of March, and it fell on that date in D!8— for the last time in two hundred years. One object in arranging the calender moon was that Easter might never fall ou the same day as the Jewish Passover. They did ocenr together, however, in 1S05, on the 4th of April; in 1825, on the 3d of April, and will do s* again in 1938 on the 1st of April, and in 1927 on the 17th of April, and in 19 s ! on the 18th day of April. On last year Easter and the Passover were separated by bat a singlenight. The Jewish festival occurs in passover week in Lent, aad never before the 29th of March or after the 25th of April. On the other hand the Christian festival is never before the 22d of March or after the 25th of April. * * * * Delicate diseases of either aex radically cored. Scud 40 cents in stamps for boob.
