Hdl.
The Evening New* is no ordinary
prophet, and it told the plain truth
the other day when it said the hotel
on the Hill would not be built unless
by a few solid men.
This is sxaetly how it wiil be
built, for Dr. Tatt and Mr. Estes
and a few other public spirited gen
tiemen agreed after the meeting sat
down on the popular subscription
that they would build the hotel any
way. They have been quietly at
work and everything is new ready.
A meeting of those in the plan will
be held at 11:80 o’clock tomorrowf
It is *aid that Dr. Tutt has taken
$30,000 mere in stock, and says he
will take more if necessary. Mr
#
Este», Mr. Baker and a few others
will p U t up tbe balance.
Mr. C. B. Alien, the contractor,
has already been notified to stop
work on Dr. Tutt’s residence, and it
will be translormed into a guperb

ty of money in sight, and if there is
more n*eded we can get it among a
few friends here or at a distance. We
are determined on the hotel, bowev
er, and it will ba built.”
This is good news, indeed, and
the Evening News records it with
pleasure. This paper was the first
to propose the hotel and started tbe
present agitation as soon as the Ex
position was cleci ed upon. The
Evening New* was also first to chain
pion Dr, Tutt’s plan and proposition,
and is first to congratulate him and
the community on its success.
tbe failure of tbe recent public meet
ing. the Evening News stated that
the hotel would have to be built by
Dr. Tutt, Mr. Estes and their associ
ates, called for action on that
and behold ,ur prayer is answered.
