“I don’t think I have ever seen
a severe spell during March,”
the Colonel, the weather being
absorbing topic of the moraing
don’t think such a cold wave
has struck the South this late in the
in my remembrance.”
•‘Thj t fleet upon the fruit crop will
be rather ruinous, wdl it not?” asked
the Capitol man.
“Well, no; I rather think not.
You see the fauit trees have bloomed
but little up to date, the contirwious
cool nights having kept them back.”
‘•Then you anticipate no cutting
off of the crop by the present spell?”
“No. ft would be a pity if such
were the case, but i do not believe
that it will be. 1 think the cold
weather of the past few days will not
affect the fruit hardly at all.”
This view of the case is ttiso taken
by several other prominent gentle
men to whom the reporter broached
the subject.
