There is no provision in the tax
statute for the administration of this
oath by any other offioer than tbe
tax receiver, except in cases of non
residents, fern I s and sick persons.

meeting the tax receiver in person
at their precincts or elsewhere, while

grand jury relative to Justices of

hered to, will aid very much in get
ting up correct tax returns, which

Capt. H. P. Hill and determined not
to be the Shakespeare Club, but tbe
“Sorosis, ,, *devoted to tbe study of
English Literature. They did, how
ever, read “Love's Labor Lost.” and
all accomplished tbe rendition ad¬
mirably, especially Miss Mary Grat¬
tan, who took the part o. the King.
It was decided to admit no resident
visitor, though r.on residents are al¬
ways welcome. With Miss Hill as
president, Mrs. Searcy as vice presi
dent, Miss Halliday as secretary and
Miss Theo Burr as treasurer, and
so many intelligent ladies as high
privates the society can not fail to
be a grand success.
