This was strictly “pullet party” and no geutlemen allowed iu their ranks. It is said ono youug man made an effort to join in with tliis fair army but was persuaded not to come any nearer, so lie took hint nud left for Atlanta on tbe train. About five o’clock the cutire ty marched up llill street, with wild flowers, to Deane’s art gallery amt had their pictures taken iu a groupe. The pleasures of the day will long remembered by all who were there. Boils, Pimples, hives, ringworm, tetter and all i i!ier by uiaiufe«liition®of Hood’s Sarsaparilla impvre blood, 3 are ou ed A Huge Monster. The party tb»t left Griffin Mon j ! day morning foi Grattan Hail, on tbe Flint river to spend a week in j fishing and rusticating ou tbe snonn tain, have certainly enjoyed that sport with no cloud to mar their pleasures or obstacle of anykind to prevent the j routine of each day’s happiness, nriu! Thursday night, and then, “Oh. dread ful monster,” “Sea serpent,” “You maemnontb creature, what art thou ' “Satan is it thou?” “What else can it be?” exclaimed Noah Collens, and he and D. Gleesner echoed tbe same in one loud voice back to the camp on the bank of the river, as they sat horrified in a little boat tryiDg to fish the taut fine., ritichJudge Hammond had carefully 1 ted an bonr previous. Great wd th<- confusion and awful was tbe fi ^bt of Noah as he sat in the boat alene, gazing at—well, the thing, the snake, the devil, or what ever it was, Douglas having leaped over board and was splashing and floundering in water 20 feet deep, trying to reach tbo shore. When Noah saw lie was alone he yelled out for help and cried porously for deliv erance from thr ..ster. “Ob, it’s eyes are like head lights to a mogul engine and it shines like a crystals ed wave in moonlight,”he exclaimed, I3y this time Douglas had reached a willow limb that bung over iu the water and with tbe quickest “get up” he ever bad t n him, rushed to his comrades an>- ying for something to be done, a: . iono quick, for his pal Noah, in the boat. Judge Ham mood came to the rescue and cutting a muscadine vine, threw one end over tbe boat and pulled Noah and the monster to the bank of the river. Poor Noah had fainted and fell back wards, but be was soon pulled out and placed ou a pile ol leaves that Douglas had prepared for the occas ion. He was rubbed with camphor and given stimulants until at last he rose up and said, “What has become of that shining devil of a thing ?” “By gads it’s gone,” said Douglas, and the entire party rushed to the boat to see it, when Noah raised up again pale as death. “Oh, there it : s, but it has ‘swunked’ up so,” and ono of the ladies stepped down in the boat and picked up a small cambric needle. How often is the light af the house hold clouded by signs of melancholy Yet or irritably on the part of the ladies. they are not to be blamed, for they that are the result of ailments peculiar But to the sex. which men know not of. may be removed and joy restored by the use of Dr. Pierce,s “Favorite Prescrip tion,” which, as a tonic and nrrvine for debilitated women, is certain, safe and plea-anr. A Game Which Is Becoming Quite Pop* ular With the Ladles, A game, which has become very fashionable and popular with tho la dies, is known by the above title. To *hose who have not been initia ted. a brief description will be of in terest. The game is played precise ly like the seven pointed American game of whist, with slight variations, in the following particulars: First.^dlearLs are always trumps. This obviates the necessity of asking What’s trumps? Of course no trump card is turned. Second. The l^uecn of Hearts is always the commanding card. Tbe other cards of-the suit rank after the Queen in the usual order, Ace. King. Knave, etc. Third. If the Queeu captures the King of trumps from an opponent, i^ counts two tricks. Should this re suit in an even number of tricks at tho close of the hand, the Queen’s side scores one point. Fourth. Eeigbt point** constitute a game. Leap year whists excited marked interests at the late International Councii of Women at Washington. Some of the more radical members favord having no trumps except tL« ! Queens, and this view might have prevailed had it not been for the ir i reconcilable disagreement as to which should be tbe comuiandicg trump— the Queen of Hearts or tho Queen I of Diamonds. • A very reep-eetable minority favorOd tbe Queen of Clubs. It was finally decided to laave the game for the present with the few change* above notfd. Boman and Her Diseases. is tlie title of a large illustrated treatise, by Dr. R. V. Pierce, Bugalo, X.
