The Patriotic Citsens or Urlffln Out En Masse TheSHth we’ll ne'er forget, it* memories ure cherished yet— Come with evergreens and flowers And them devoutly, <rentiy spread O’er those sacred mounds in showers ’Neath which repose our noble dead. The dead who die for their coun¬ try are not forgotten. Twenty three years have elapsed since the last the patriot sons of tba South fell be¬ fore overwhelming odds; but yester day those who turned out in Griffin to pay tribute to their memory were more numerous than ever before. The grounds were cleared and each grave in Stonewall cemetery was embellished with wreath of flowers, while green gar¬ lands were placed on the and adorned the pavilion. The Spalding Greys presented handsome appearance in their new uniforms, and the triple salute fired over the graves of the dead diers must have re-awakened martial fire if the departed ever com mute with earthly scenes. The order of exercises was through with as printed, except the music was all rendered—and cellently rendered—by the choir in¬ stead of partly by the band. Dr, Bradley, in delivering the ad¬ dress, made no attempt at high oratory, but spoke the ly because simply and as one could speak who had shared all the hard¬ ships of the war which be and had fek the grandeur of the unsuccessful struggle. His had the rare feature of being too short ncr too long and waa listen ed te attentiriy throughout. May the dead soldiers rest peace¬ fully till another Memorial day. wo gTcal tn« miev—Hood’s SaiMpariia d impure hlood.
