The proceedings of a couple of neigh
boring counties take up a good deal of
ear space this morning. But then we
have a good deal of circulation in these
counties, which helps to draw a great
deal of trade to Griffin.
On Sunday night J. H. Ringer captur
ed a thirty five gallon tin still on the
plantation of E. W. Rhodes, in Pike
county. Mr. Rhode’s friends were great
ly surprised and shocked by the news,
but we understand that lie denies any
knowledge of the matter. We hope he
will be able to prove this.
We thank our Harakon correpondeut

The great council of the Improved
Order of Red Men of Georgia will hold
their great sun’s council in ColumbuB.
The coucil fire will be kindled on the
eighth sunflower moon, at the ninth sun
rising sun, May 8, at 9 a. m., at Odd
Fellows hall, and will be kept burning
several days. A. Randall, a big Injin
of this lodge, will represent Griffin.
