CLARK & SON PATRICK WALSH'S POSITION HIS RESIGNATION ON THE COMMIT¬ j TEE NOT ACCEPTED. rtut He Will lie Unanimously Dropped at St. Louis and Col. J. II. j Esliii Elected, | | Special to the News. Atlanta, May 10-— A groat deal of noise is made by the Constitution aurl its friends because on Wednes day evening Patrick Walsh tendered his lesiguation to the St. Louis dele gatioD and it was unanimously decid ed not io accept the same. It is claimed that this is a point gained by the protectionists, and that the Democrats found Mr. Walsh to be too strong a man to be dropped. Tbe fact is simply that the new Na tional Democratic Committee will not be chosen until the 5th of next month at St. Lonis, and then by the whole convention, so that tbe delega tion had nothing to do with Mr. Walsh's positiou, and no power to ac cept or decline Mr. Walsh's resigna tion, and he himself must simply have been playing a farce, as he could not but know that only the National Committee itself could take action upon a withdrawal from its membership. As there is nothing further for this Nathioi.al Commit tee to do until the meeting ot the National Convention, there is no reason why Mr. Walsh should not continue to fill the position. But when it comes to electing a new committee at St. Louis, it will be found that Georgia will thereaft •r be repreeented by that able and pure Cleveland Democrat, Col. J. H. Estill, proprietor of the Savannah News, and Mr. Walsh will be left to reinstate himself as best he may. He is a valuablo ally when ho fights for the party, but not altogether in dispensable. THE GEORGIA PLATFORM. An Unequivocal Declaration of Demo¬ cratic Principles. The following is the platform unan imously adopted by the Democratic State convention at Atlanta on Wednesday, May DLL; The Democratic party of Georgia, j in convention assembled, represent ing the counties of the State which have given their views with unusual fullness and authority, makes the fol lowing declaration of principles; Resolved, That the Democratic party of Georgia cor<L..ily indorses the administration of Grover Cleve land, as eminently wise, just and pa triotic and deserving the npproba tion of the American people, regard less of parly affiliation. In the dia charge of the duties of his high trust, he has exemplified the wisdom of Jefferson, the firmness of Jackson and the inflexible integrity of Wash ingtou. Resolved, That the surplus of 8140,000,000, now lying idle in the vaults of tbe national treasury, is so ; much money wrung from tne toil and ; sweat of honest labor and legitimate industry of every description to maintain and protect corpulent and hoary headed monopoly under the pretext of fostering infant industries, which never grow old and aro as in satiate as cormorants. The message of President Cleve land urging a reduction of this sur plas by reducing faxes upon the nec¬ essaries of life rather than upon lux uries and unuecessaries, was ft states BJfiu-like aud true declaration of tb« timesfionored principles of the Dem ocratic party, and meets our hearty »ud unqualified indorsement, and we accept and commend that message as embodying tho principles of the Democratic party upon this issue, Recognizing the difficulty, amid conflicting opinions, interests and prejudices of effecting in prael;.- ;• forms easily r.sseiled in principle, wo accept s tho most av..liable pirn of securing reduction, lie lar.fl’ ic form bill reported to the national House of Representativee by the ma jority of tho committee on ways and menus, known as the Mills bill, and wo tender to tho chairman and his colleagues our thanks for their earn est efforts to accomplish, with tho full lights before them, all that watt practicable in the way of reform. Resolved, That the thanks of the Democratic party of Georgia are due and aro hereby tendered to Senator Alfred ii. Colquitt for his aide speech iu tho Senate of tho United States in defense of tho mrr-snge of tbe President upon the iu-t of tariff reform. Resolved, That tbe dciegatos from this State to tho St. Louis conven tion ixv instructed ‘o cast tho vote of Georgia for Grover Cleveland for P*vs'doBt, and for a platform of nrin ciples in harmony with these rcso'a tions. Blowing Up Hell Gate has been a laborious and costly work, but tho end justifies tire effort. Obstrue tion in any important channel means dis aster. Obstructions in tho organs of tho human body bring inevitable disease. They must be cleared away, or physical wreck will follow. Keep the liver in or der, and the pure blood courts through the body, conveying health, strength and lifo: let it become disordered and the channels are clogged with impuri tics, which result in disease and death.
