H%rrison expects towije out a Democratic majority in Indi¬ ana, ranging from 5,000 to 1 0,0 in spite ot the fact that the anti workingmen as well as the F)em ocrats are solid against him ho is un doubtedijr an uncommonly sanguine mao. While we in Georgia have been having it a little wet for the week or two, wc have escaped tbs flood which has visited central and eastern Illinois. The dispatches from that section report the crops as badly damaged. From 10,000 15,000 sores of growing corn are under water in one county alone. Findlay (O) Courier: “The Re¬ publican organs howl incessantly abcut tne suppression of the Republi can vote in the south and yet they endorse John Sherman and all other rascals who were instrumental io tup pressing the Democratic vote in the South.in 1876. The trouble about suppressing the Republican vote in the south is that there isn’t any to suppress.” It is a significant faot, aud one al together encouraging to the Demo crabs, that the daily papers of New York are alaaost a unit in support of Cleveland and Thurmao, as appears from the extracts from these papers so extensively reproduced by the newspapers of the country. The list of those supporting the Demo cratic ticket includes the Sun, Star aud World, Democratic; the Times and Commercial Advertiser, Republi can, and the Hors'd and Evening Po#t, Independent. Ths Staats Zsi tong, the leading German paper this country, also accords the Demo cratic national ticket itn hearty Bup port. The only papers of in New York supporting the Republi din ticket are Tribune, Press Mail and Express. There never a greater preponderance of New York newspaper support given to presidential candidate than is now accorded to Cleveland. HALL AND POLLENS. Thu Democratic convention of yes turday ratified the action of the pri maries of Saturday, without a dissent ing voice and Judge John I. Hall was named as Spalding’s choice for the Senate aad Col. N. M. Coliens was nominated for the legislature. The convention acted smoothiy and harmoniously in every respect, and from the speeches of the chairmen and the action of the delegates it waa easily perceptible that the desire for the best interest of the party over earn® ail personal feelings und preju dices aud actuated the convention iu everything it did. Let us now lay aside all differences and woik eutliunisstically and united ly for the candidates Darned. Tbe Judge replied: “That will depend on the of the word free trader. If it a desire to tear down all the houses, then I am not a free and I do not believe one exists his country. The attempt, as sabl to you yesterday, to construe President’s message into a free document is unjust and sents the fact. It is nothing of the kind. The President takes pains to make that point clear. charges also that the Mills bill, leaves a productive duty of per cent., is a free trade measure equally absurd. The highest rate protective duties during the war ' believe was 36J per cent. To they are 47| per cent.
