A Colored Shooting.
Two negroes met at A. O. Gay’s
place, near Mud Bridge, Sunday and
had a difficulty. One of them, Eli
Jackson, had stolen some chickens
from Bart Crowder and Crowder told
it on him. Jackson threatened to
kill him, if ho told him so. They met
and Crowder told him he had stolen

hit at him with a stick. But he miss
ed him and Crowder ran iu the house
and got an ax, but it was taken from
him. He then got a gun arid shot
him. The ball struck Jackson in the
shoulder, but glanced and only made
a flesh wound. Crowder made his
escape.
