Horse Thieves.
,An attempt was made Monday
night about 11 o'clock to steal Dr,
D, E, Drewery’s horse. The thieves
were rather awkward about the busi
ness, and made a noise, which awak
enod Mrs Drewry, who quietly <gave
alarm to her husband and informed
him that some one was trying to
take the horse from the stable. He
and his brother Gus Drewry made
hasty preparations to capture the
thieves, bnt before they arrived at
the stabler, they had succeeded in
getting the horses and making their
escape, They were quickly pursued,
however, and for fear of being cap
tured, gave np their booty. Many will
remember that about this time last
year thieves succeeded in giving wr.
Drewry some trouble by stealing his
horses and taking them into an ad
joining county where they were left
on account of beiDg so closely pur
sued. Perhaps were a dose of Judge
Lynch meted out to such rascals
when caught, such depredations
would be less frequent.
