John Cunningham came up from Orchard Hill to take pait in the shoot iDg of the Griffin Gan Club yesterday. O. II. Ison exhibited some lino speci mens of bell pepper yesterday. Mr. Ison has gathered several bushels of this pepper from his garden this season. A. washout occurred on the Central Sunday between Macon and Savannah. The regular passenger train to Sevan nab that leaves in the afternoon only succeeded in getting as far as Gordon. It returned yesterday morning. Tom Brown, of Hollonville, has ac cepted a position with J. H. Keith & Co. ami came into the city yesterday and will begin work with the firm today. We ex tend a cordial welcome to Mr. Brown aDd are glad to have him in our midst. The S. G. k N. A. train ran off the track yesterday morning. Tlio train was on the Y when the accident occur red. Brown and a crowd of friends were speaking about some ir. -s conceding politics in Henry count; During the conversa tion Frank Carry came up apd entered into the discussion. It was not long ere hot words took place between Brown and Curry. It seems that Cnrry insult ed Brown, whereupou Brown, suddenly drew his pistol and would have undoubt edly slain him but for tho interference of a bystander who knocked the pistol up causing the ball to take an upward course. The difficulty ended without any further shots being fired. It is said that Curry suddenly took his departure when Brown drew his pistol. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council the city of Griffin, and it is hereby ordain by authority of the sam6. •Section 1, That the sum of 2C cents be and same is hereby imposed on each and every one hundred dollars of real estate with m tho corporate limits of the city of Gr dollars itiin and on each and every one hundred valuation of all stock in trade, horses and mules and other animals, musical instru¬ ments, furniture, watches, vehicles jewelry, of wagons, de¬ drays and all pleasure every scription, money and solvent debts, includ¬ ing notes, bonds and all other evidences of debt except bonds of the city Griffin and up on all other class of personal property, in¬ cluding bank stock and capital used for bank ing purposes in the City of Griffin on the 1st day of April, 1S8S. And ajlike tax upon fill property of every description held by any¬ one as guardian, agent, executor or adminis¬ trator, or in any other fiduciary relation in¬ cluding that held by non residents, to defray the ourrent expenses of the city government.
