Our readers will doubtless reraem ber how the News reported the preai dentisl election of four yerrs s^o, with bulletins erery fifteen mitnilei, day and night, Ri.d full page of telegrams every morning’s issue, for About a week. Not only were the re toras full but they were reliable, the Nawsatid the Constitution being the only two pipers in the Ststo that an¬ nounced Cleveland’s election from the atari and kept verifying it until the official vote of New York render ed it conclusive. It was a feat never even contemplated before \n the most enterprising days of Griffin journalism and one of which the peo •pie were justly proud, It will be hard to excel this record —in faot, it will be impossible for any paper to give the news any more speedily and correctly—but this time the returns will be given to our read with greater fullness and detail, and the announcement of the triumphant election of Cleveland and Thurman will appear with some features not found in any other paper. Besides the lull dispatches of the Associated Press, there will be an exclusive line of spocials from the New York office of the American Press Association which will cover accurately with half hour bulletins the more import ant returns from the pivotal or doubt ful States of New York, New Jeisey, Indiana, Michigan and California. All these dispatches will be bulletin¬ ed and given to the public as fast as received, and the people of Middle Georgia may depend upon getting the news in Griffin as well as if they were in the metropolis of the United States. All this will involve a great deal of expense, besides care and work— expense several times as great as in 1884, when the Southern telegraph company gave us competing rates— bat the Naws spares neither money nor pains in giving its patrons the best news attainable. No other paper tu a town the site ol Griffin will do M much; but the News is not gauged in its actions by other papers, ft sets the pace, and there are few that can follow A correspondent writing from Iowa states that if the D.-tnoerals bad given tbu' Stato auy attention, instead of sending money put of the State to what were considered more pivitol points, its thirteen electoral ▼otes would have been cast for Glevo land.
