It Gollens w»» received at two o’clock yesterday morning, just as tbe worst return* were coining in from New York, and while producing agony to some was felt by ail almost as generally in the whole community as the news of Democratic disaster. All who knew Mr. Gollens—and he was raised in this community— knew him to hold him in the bights regard. He was a young tnan of bright at tain men’s and good mind, with always a warm heart for his friends. Ho was prominent in local politics and had just been elected representative from this county by the largest rnajoriiy given in recent years. In this, as in all things, providence must have acted wisely; though be was the only son of his mother and she a widow. To her nothing can be said that will do justice to his memory or mitigate the loss. The funeral today will be under the auspices of the Red Men, of which order he was a member. Attention. Spalding Greys. You are requested to be at the armory 7 at 9 o’clock this morniDg, to attend the funeral of 1st Lieut. N. M. Gollens. J. T. Stephenson, Captain The German. The young men of Griffin gave a delightful Gorman at the Greys ar¬ ms ry Tuesday night. As the couples whirled around in tbe giddy waltz, in unison with the delightful strains of music, they seemed to he regard less of the fact that two of the great est political parties in the universe, were then struggling with each other for supremacy. New and then some fair youug “lassie” would for get the pleasure of the evening long enough to ask of her admiring beau “how goes tho election?” Danoing was indulged in np to the“wee sma” hours of the morn.
