As a loyal citizen of tbe govern ment, tbe people of tbe South will give proper respect to tbe adminis tration of President Harrison, whose private character and public life have been free from any taint of scandal or corruption,—[Auguste Gbionicle. risurr krmton must come. There is nothing then to be regret ted. The fight was made as it should have been made. The go on just tbe sutne. Tbe war tariff will be reduced. It is to be feared, however, that tbe first industries to be knifed will be Southern indue tries, and tbe first tbroat to be cat will be those of tbe Southern plant era and farmers There will net be much consolation in this to those who are in a harry to turn tbeir backs on the policy of ihe Democratic party, which was to treat the Sooth with absolute fairness in spite of the general clamor for the absolute repeal of the duty on both sugar and rice. —[Charleston News and Courier. Tin! FIGHT JUST BEGUN. To day the Republicans are in tbe ascendant; and tbe presnmption is tbat tbe odious class legislation of tbeir former twenty years’ regime, which robbed the comunity right and left for the benefit of a few pam pered classes, and a gang of corrupt corporations and combines, will be renewed in an oggrrvated shape. It will be tbe duty of tbe Democratic party to resist tbat one sided legis lation, to make it their aim to cut the wing of that monstrous money power, which, through the Radical legislation referred to, has grown to snob threatening dimensions and which has its deadily fangs already fixed se deep in the vital* of tbe community, that it looks as if noth ing would remove its grasp but an uprising of the people. This discontent oi perpetual und ubiquitous strikes, and tbe unrest which is indicated by communistic displays in some of onr large cities, may not yet loom up very large in tbe public eye as elementary sput terings of revolution. Bat revolu tion is what they undoubtedly point towards, and tbe plutooratio prefer enoe* of Radical government, which hate made and are rnakiDg our real republic, will greatly accelerate tbe date of that revolution. Instead of tbe fight on Democrat io linea being ended, tbe fight is but commencing, and tbe plain duty of every true Democrat is to take heart and gird up his loins to battle for tbe right—[New Orleans States. , ■-*$*- A man who ha* practiced medicine for 40 yew*, ought to know salt from sugar; read what he *ay*.
