The Funeral ef Mrs. Grantland The funeral of Mrs. S. Grantland was held yesteaday morning at St. George's church, with the impressive ceremonies of tbe Episcopal denomi nation. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers, the coffin be ing placed upon a raised bed of bloa some and foliage. The favorite hymns of tbe deceased were suDg at the church, "Lead, kindly light,‘‘ “Jesus, savior of my soul," and “Asleep in Jesus;*' at the cemetery, “Abide with me." The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: T. J. Brooks, J. M, Brawner, J. P. Hammond, T. R Mills, W. C. Becks, Thos. Nall, A. C. Sorrell, D. W. Shaffer, J. M; Mills. Mrs. Grantland was in deed a lady of the most estimable and ideal qualities, ^cultured and at tractive, generous and hospitable, kind and charitable to the poor. Her end was peace ful after a wasting illness. The Terrible Murder of Jason am on Yesterday Morning- Tracking With Bloodhounds. Information was brought to city yesterday morning that Carmichael, a negro convict, was working out a sentence on Maaley’s convict farm, four from the city, bad murdered in blood Jason Greshim, a man ed to guard the convicts. A man by tbe name of Stallings, Baw the dead body of the man soon after the killing, the following information: convicts, four in uamber, were ployed in cutting down some and Gresham, who was near, for some reason undertook pass by them.
