My Poor Back!
That “ poor back ” is held responsible for more than its share of the sufferings of
mankind. If your dog bites a man who kicks if, do yon blame the dog? On the same
principle the kidneys niter their protest against nervousness, impure blood, aad
resulting constipation. These force them lo extraordinary work in ridding the
system of the poisons which are the result of effete matter retained in the
blood. Then the sufferer says the back aches; the kidneys are die.
eased. “Not yet; * but they wll be unless the nerves are strengthened,
the blood purified, and the constipation removed. These are the causes
of kidney troubles, and Paine’s Celery Compound removes them quickly,
With its tonic, purifying, and laxative effect, it also strengthens the weak
kidneys, making it almost infallible curing all diseases of the nerves and kid-
neys. If your hopes of cure have not been realized, try Paine’s Celery Corn-
pound; it gives perfect health to all who complain of “ their poor backs.” Price fl.OO.

Griffin and Spalding county came to the
front some time ago as the ‘‘dark and bloody

their snpremicy in that line, there having
been but throe homicides during the past
week.
The burglar* are making it pretty lively
for our towns people juat now. There was an
attempt last Sunday night to enter the store
of Messrs. H. J. Copeland & Co. The bold,
bad burglar took some pains to cut th« lock
out of the post office door. It was thought
that he only wanted to get his mall; but on
crossing the street he broke the glass out of
William H. Smith’s house and filled up on
peanuts, which in some measure dispels the
theory that he wanted to burglarize.
A negro, answering the description of Os¬
car Carmionael, was arrested in Ellen wood
last Monday night, lie was armed with a
Winchester repeating rifle. On going into a
store to do some trading he was locked In
with two other negroes, and a telegram was
sent to Mr. J Q. Nolan, telegraph operator
at this place, for u description of Carmichael,
stating that .hey had a negro iu a store therei
whom they thought was Carmichael. This
report was given out at Locust Groye and
Stock bridge, and armed parties went up to
take charge of the supposed criminal; but it
turned out he was the wrong man.
The Constitution is preparing for a con¬
gressional candidate for 1890. She think* the
way to do it is to split Judgo Stewart and his
friends. The little article In that paper a
few days ago saying that Solicitor General
Womack and Judge Stewart were uot at a
good understanding on account of Judge
8tewait’sfaiiureto supported. Womack for
Solicitor General, is only an effort to preju¬
dice the public mind against Congressman
Stewart. Now watch if the Constitution
does not try to nominate a Fulton county
man two years bcuee. 1 hat’s what the row
is about. This is an old scuttle fish dodge
of which the great moulder of public opinion
is an adept.

Mrs. Harrison’s Joke.
From the Indianapolis Journal.
There is a good story of Mrs. Har¬

It shows hows she relishes a joke.
Dr. Neweomer is a weilkiiown pltysi

her window painting, she saw the

the house. Hurrying to the door,
she called the animal in, and while
another lady held the animal’s head
and fed hi in meat, Mrs. Harrison
painted him on both sides with the ie
gend: “Use Newcomer's Pills.” Th-y
turned him loose and he trotted

A Chicken Coop,
Chicago Mad.
A man in Georgia has built himself
a burglar proof chicken coop. Its
walls are hard cement covered with
thick sheet iron, and the door is sup
plied with a big combination lock,
while just outside there ore two bear
traps with teeth like a shark. The
hardships of the colored people of
the South c to hardly fail to excite
Republican sympathy as soon as Mr.
Harrison goes into office-
