Miss Mary Owens Suddenly Killed While Waili. g for Her Brother. i Id Mary Owens, of Concord, ! ltd) was suddenly crushed to death oo tbe Georgia Midland railroad Hatur day. 8he had gone to the depot to m<et htr brother who wna expected on the traiu. A few uinmites hefere the tram was due she had tukeu her seat upon the truck. Being slightly dent she failed to heur the app i ach ing train which was to so soon hurl her into eternity. Just before it reached her the jar caused by us nea' approach must have warned her for shs arose from the track and attempted lo cross. But cruel fats deemed it otherwise and she was caught beneath the death dealing wheels of the powerful engine and before the horrified engineer could reverse bis engine she was crushed into almost a shapeless mass of bu man flesh. Her body whs horribly mangled and her features so badly mutilated as to be almost past re cognation. She was a daughter of Hardee OweDs, a former citizen o! this place but now a resident of Con cord. She was thirteen years old, Her corpse was brought to this city Sunday for interment. The sadly bereaved and heart broken parents hare our aympathy. An inquest was held and tbe jury decided that tbs accident was unavoidable.
