Persons who have a superstitious
dread of Friday will be pleased to
hear that this is a year for Fridays.
It came in on Friday, will go out on
Friday, and will have fifty-three of
the ill-omened days. There are four
month* In this year that have five
Fridays each, changes of the moon
occur five times on Friday, and the
longest and shortest days of the
year each falls on Friday.
The police had quite a chase, alter
two white boys yesterday, but suc¬
ceeding in bringing them in only to
find that there was nothing in the
catch as the boys were only fright¬
ened at the sight of blue coats and
brass bUttonabomfug toward them.
A little later they locked up a couple
of white men from an adjoining
county, one charged with being
drunk and disorderly and the other
for flinging sass at an officer.
Henry County Times: “It is a
gratifying fact that at this
the reports Irom all sections indicate
splendid crops. The rains have not
been damaging, except in some few
and small areas, and the amount of
damage done has not been of any
great seriousness. Everything
seems to point to an abundant har¬
vest, under the most favorable con¬
dition, and its impress in business
circles is beginning to be felt thus
early, and we bear the prophesy on
every side that McDonough will en¬
joy a larger trade this fall than ever
before in her past history.

The report of the Thomasville
National Bank, as called for by the
comptroller of currency, at the close
of bueineBS, Friday, July 12, is a very
gratifying one. For the six months
ending July 1, over $9,000 have
been added to the surplus, from the
profits for the same time. The loans
and discount account, $199,123, is a
very fine exhibit of the business bank.
The deposit account $80,000, shows
that money is not as close with some
people as is sometimes claimed.
