There is an actual coal famine as
well as wood famine in Griffin, not a
lamp lieing left in the coal yards.
The want of car* for transportation
is given as the cause, though the rail¬
roads are hauling coal through here
daily for themselves. If the scarcity
continues and the weather turns
much colder, it will be pretty tough
on the many who have not laid in
coal. The busy and provident ant
will be all right, but it will be death
to grasshoppers and editors.

The remains of Gen. Walker and
Private Hackett were disinterred
yesterday and placed in the hand¬
some caskets sent. Of Gen. Walker
there was part of the skull left,
while of Hackett there were only
few pieces of bones, the balance in
each case being nothing but gray
moss. The caskets are standing in
front of the altar in the Methodist
chureh, covered with flowers and
with u immature Confederate flag on
each. The church is also decorated
with flowers.
