We received yesterday a reproduc¬
tion of the Daily Hebei, dated Chat¬
tanooga, Aug. 9, 1862. The Rebel
was published in Chattanooga in
1862-63 by Franc M. Paul and edited
by Henry Watterson, and later at
Marietta and Griffin. From Griffin
it was forced to move to Selma, Ala.,
where, with the Confederacy, ft sank
beneath the waves of tumult to rise
no more. That its publisher honest¬
ly recognized the precarious nature
of its existence is evinced by tne fact
that he charged ft dollar a month
and announced that no subscriptions
would lie received fora longer period.
