The experience of men who have
made advertising a study, and have
profited by it because it has "been
done methodically and with distinct
ends in view, is that the very best
plan, und one that is productive of
the best results, is to keep well word¬
ed, catchy advertisements running
throughout the year, and, as often
as a new line, a novelty or anew idea
appears in stock dhauge the “ad"
and let the world know oil about it.
A common, every doyofficecnt, the
property of Postmaster Harp, of
Jackson, was noticed to ”be cutting
some very extraordinary antics while
running around the postoffice as if in
search of something one day last
week. Finally it struck the object of
its search and begun mutilating the
stamps and biting on a smal paste¬
board box, into which it finally gain¬
ed an entrance and commenced to
chew on the contents. The box was
found to contain catnip, and was ad
dressed to some point in Florida.
After getting hold of some of tie
plant the cat seemed perfectly satis¬
fied and began rolling it on the floor
and otherwise enjoying herself. She
had a great smeller, as the box was
wrapped securely and tight, and was
up on a shelf in the office. The
marks of a cat’s paw will accompany
box tc its destination.
Never Heard of “Davy Crockett’s
Coon”?
That’s queer! Well,itwaslike this:
Crockett was noted for his skill

Davy cried out, “Hello, there! Are
Crockett? If yon are, I’ll
ust come down, Just for I know I’m a
rone coon.” takkea dose of.

and indigestion will emulate the
of “Davy Crockett’s coon,"
“dim down." They are specifics

and bowels.

News’ Enterprise.
On the 30th of October, Rev. T.
DeWitt Tattnage embarked on the
fast steamer City of Paris for a
three months’ jeupfay through Italy,
Greece, Egypt and the Holy Land.
Mr. Talinage’s principal object in
making this trip i* to have a chance
to inspect the places and scenes
which will be embraced in his forth¬
coming work, “The Life of Christ,”
for which his publishers are said to
have guaranteed Mr. Talmage $22,-
000. They will also pay all the ex¬
penses of the trip, which will cost
for Mr. Talmage and his family
$5,000.
DB. TAI.MA.OK.
The cost of the trip to the News

that sum, but still it will be consider¬

circles asDri Tal mage’s

We have made a contract
with Mr. Klopsch lor two letters
weekly, giving a graphic and connec¬
ted account ofthe journey, these let¬
ters to be illustrated by engravings
made by Mr. Klopsch, ontheground.
The first of these letters, which will
run through three months, will ap
pear on Thursday morning, and if
there are no delays in the mails or
otherwise will appear regularly there¬
after on Sunday and Wednesday
mornings.
Mr. Klopsch is a journalist of un¬
usual ability, and three letters, be¬
ing written on the ground and on
matters which interest every man,
woman and child in a Christian
community, and illustrated from
photographs embracing a wide range
of interesting subjects, should not
be missed by anyone.
It has been with some difficulty
that this arrangement has been
made, but we are satisfied that our
readers will appreciate an enterprise
that is ffot shared in by any other
paper in this section.
