Vaughn, colored, was stabbed and
kilted by Charlie Jester. It seems

same sable damsel when hot feelings
arose and Jester drear a long keen
bladed knife and took the life of his
rural. Vaughn lived but a few min¬
utes after receiving the wound. Jes¬
ter made good his escape and is yet
ac large. At last accounts several
self-appointed colored deputy sher¬
iffs were in pursuit, but the scape
goat has not been found.
A Progressive*Little Town.
The lively little town of Jenkins
burg, on the East Tennessee railroad
above Jackson, will soon be working
under a city government. At the re¬
cent session of the Georgia legisla¬
ture the town was incorporated un¬
der a charter similar to that of Jack-
son, and under it a Mayor and
board of Alderman have been elected,
consisting of V. D. Harris Mayor,

Kinard. J. M. Bankston, J. M.
; - Laster and N. J. Aarmon
Aldermen, and J. T. Gray,
Marshal, and W. T. Crumbly, deputy.
A code of laws will shortly be pub¬
lished and everything working
