The goose-bone and thick corn
husk indications of a severe winter
have proved failures so lar. We are
very near Christmas, with only two
or three frosts yet that were heavy
enough to be called ’‘killing,” and
the weather generally has been mild
and fall like. But we may catch bliz¬
zards later on, and don’t wish to be
understood as prophesying about
January and February.
The liajsli. drastic purgative, once deemed
so indispensable, have given place to milder
aDd more skilfully prepared laxatives; hence
the great and growing demand for Ayer’s
Pills. Physicians everywhere recommend
them for costivenees, indigestion, and liver
complaints.
