lutions were adopted almost unan-
imously: ,
Whereas, The agricultural interests
of the county of Meriwether, and of
the state of Georgia, demand that
the farmers and farm laborers ot the
state should have some voice
in selecting the names to be present¬
ed before the democratic nominating
conventions of the state; therefore,
be it
Resolved, By the convention called
to assemble on the 11th day of
March, in the city of Greenville, by
the Meriwether County Alliance, for
the purpose of considering the good
of the order,
1. That we request each sub-Alli—
ance, Grange, Farmers’ Club. Agri¬
cultural organization and Lodge of
Knights of Labor, to send two dele¬
gates to a convention to be held at
the courthouse of their respective
countieB, for the purpose of formu¬
lating a platform and presenting
suitable names to run in the next
democratic nomination for governor,
cougress, state senate, and house of
representatives.
2. That the secretaries of each
convention in the respective counties
of the state shall forward to the
state Alliance organ—The Southern
Alliance Farmer—a list of the names
selected for presentation to the differ¬
ent democratic nominating conven¬
tions of the state with a request that
they be consolidated and published
in said organ.
3. That the person receiving the
largest number of conventions in the
state be requested by said organ to
become a candidate for nomination
in the next democratic guberna¬
torial cbnvention.
4 That the persons receiving the
largest number of conventions in
each congressional district be re¬
quested to become candidates Tor
nomination in the uext democratic
congressional convention of their
respective districts.
5. That the persons receiving the
largest number of votes in each sena¬
torial district be requested to become
candidates for nomination in the next
democratic senatorial convention
of their respective districts.
Provided, If said senatorial dis¬
trict has adopted the rotation sys¬
tem, the person selected shall be an
inhabitant of the county entitled to
the candidate by said system.
6. That each convention shall
select as many suitable men as their
respective counties are entitled to
representatives in the lower bouse
of the general assembly, and request
them to become candidates in the
democratic nominating convention
for the house of representatives.
7. That the president of each
County Alliance be requested to call
the conventions in their respective
counties at such a time as will most
promote an economic government
and the good of the order.
